New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

....I live in Liverpool but before I retired I worked lots in Lytham & latterly in Peel Park (end of the M53). Often stayed over & enjoyed the Taps.

Oh really. Presume you mean the m55.

Have you been to the taps in the last five years or so? New beer garden and extension added on. Still got the same character tho.

I think one of the obvious solutions is to run the soccerbus service from Old Hall Street. I can't stress enough how this station is gonna heave with Blues. It's served directly from Chester, Ellesmere Port, West Kirby, New Brighton, Southport, Ormskirk, South Liverpool, and Kirkby, is less than 1.5 miles from the ground, and just happens to be in the city centre.

And then there's Sandhills.

I understand that not everybody has convenient rail access, and perhaps ironically, it will be people who live close to Goodison, and other such areas who will find it hardest to get there. Their journey will likely start with a bus into town, but for many people who rely on public transport in those areas, a two-leg journey via town is par for the course.

I think the rail links are fine. Certainly better than Goodison or Anfield.

Yes.... in terms of rail it's approximately 30% better than Goodison for direct services and capacity at Kirkdale, but exactly the same if you currently use soccerbus from Sandhills where the footfall is actually shared across those 2 stations, but the point is, despite that relative convenience of a mass transit system such a small proportion of our fanbase actually use it.

In terms of buses, GP is better served (at present) with routes right up to the front door on walton Lane, Priory Rd and multiple services on County Rd and Queens Drive too. Yet, again despite all this only 40% of match goers use public transport and we're being told that those proportions have to be at least reversed at BMD if we're to avoid grid lock congestion and for the site to work.

Hopefully BMD will prompt greater use of the train, but at only 12-18k seats per hr, and probably reduced parking catchment area too, I think there'll need to be further infrastructure changes to achieve their projected access/dispersal targets.

Does anyone have any idea when construction will start. We've had approval for a while now and i would have thought we would have heard something by now.

We're waiting on a licence to catch the fish in the dock now, that went in on Thursday and will take 28 days. I think we can start then, but you won't see much progress for a few months I'd imagine.

I so look forward to watching the construction from the start, draining..piling etc, I know it has already happend in the past with the Liver Buildings etc, but will be fascinating to watch.

Fully expecting the Kopite shouts of burying a Liverpool shirt underneath the foundations/pitch. Have to stay relevant with all things Everton the redz.

Depending on the weather, I would often walk from Town to Goodison.

Scotland Road, Everton valley, usually took me about 45 minutes, but good exercise, and it built up a thirst.

:pint2:

I did it on occasion when I parked off Scottie and also when I lived near the tunnel often walk there or walk home. Builds up a thirst also builds up a sweat. Without a doubt though BMD will be closer.

My experience though is the weather. No one will be keen on doing it in the rain and wind.

I think people will quickly get their routine going to BMD, but I think the club are overly reliant that supporters will travel by foot because it's going to be an area that's going to be developed from BMD to town and it'll be a nice walk. Needs an additional train station. I think there should be a car park and coach park somewhere in the vicinity, think of the Stanley Park for parking and other places and Priory Road and Walton Lane for coaches. Are the club really thinking everyone will just turn to public transport and walking?

Do remember one walk back after a night game in January... looked like the abominable snowman by the time I got back. Had literally about an inch of snow on my coat.
