New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Have to say, I can't see what purpose there is with only 4,000 attending. What are they hoping to discover?

As a trial, it will be to test the admission process, in case they will need one for a full ground, as much as anything. I doubt much data re infections in the weeks after the match will be that surprising, either way, other than testing (sic) infections against hospital admissions, which is more about building vaccine data.

Yeah, rather ironic people who live around Walton would have the most awkward journey to BMD compared to Goodison. Not just further but awkward by public transport.
In order to keep their businesses from going under maybe it would pay the pubs on County Rd and near GP to lay on a mini bus service for a fair fee. Feasible for taking fans to the ground though probably not for pick up afterwards. Does the plan for BMD include a drop off area?

Looking forward to that first game, Saturday 3-00pm KO. It WILL be a lovely sunny day.

(1) Full English Breakfast in West Kirby. :coffee:
(2) Train to James Street. :bye:
(3) First pint ( and a Sir Arthur Bliss) in the Captain Alexander. :pint2:
(4) A nice leisurely (15 minute) walk to BMD. :)
(5) Everton win of course.

That Spoons will be mobbed before the match, particularly with people from Wirral. Can never understand why they didn't take 2 floors of that building as I don't think the Captain Alexander is big enough. I think it would be a good idea to have Soccerbuses from various points in town. James Street station is an obvious one and a Soccerbuses from there would be well patronised by people from that side of the river.

Pretty sure it does. Maybe even a Soccerbus might be worth considering.

Its a laudable idea, but not that sure it would fly.

My, admittedly limited, experience of the pubs around Goodison is that they are packed, until circa 30 to 15 minutes before kick off.

They would need a lot of mini buses, and would mean starting to empty the pubs maybe an hour before kick off.

So that, or a fan decides to go straight to BMD. In the first season, I reckon the novelty of going to a new place would pretty much negate match pub traffic near Goodison.

You drop him off at the ground then go and park, rinse and repeat the other way.....
I'd like to think there are better options than that. My dad shouldn't have to stand around on his weak legs for 30mins just while i go and get the car and then come back itno traffic, to then go back out. Happy to sit and wait for 30mins for traffic to disperse in the car, just hope the club have a plan for those who need it.

There will be seating in the fan area outside.

True, though I wouldn't expect these pubs would see anything like those sort of numbers once the stadium is opened. Then again, if they don't sustain something like the current numbers would they go bust anyway?

They have had pretty much no one in for 12 months as it is. Ok, govt loans and furlough and that will take some pain out of the sting, but still. Are they viable local boozers on non match days? Tommy Frosts seemed pretty well set up as one when I was last there.

I’m sure they will mate. But I’m also sure that there will be loads of benches and stuff where he can sit and wait. We’ll all have to wait and see I suppose.....
