Our midfield struggles to assert itself on games against Fulham and West Brom. I'm going to say it is an issue still.

We struggled vs Saints as well in midfield, that was Doucoure, Allan and Gomes. I don't think Gomes is any good either but surely those two should be having some impact.

We had one competent build up in the entire 90 minutes, it just happened to get us an early goal so we were able to be content with what you've said. If somehow that doesn't end up in the net we have problems because the midfield couldn't move the ball up the field.

It wasn't creating a lot of chances but in terms of limiting the opposition, the first half was very good. Southampton actually managed nothing the whole half.

I don't disagree but the midfield as a whole has two jobs and they were completely inadequate, and on the season have been completely inadequate, at the job of getting the ball forward and generating attacks.

Or even keeping hold of it competently.

Ancelotti doesn’t give much away but he specifically mentioned technical quality. I think we’ll see Isco and Vazquez from Madrid as they’ve been linked as a request to keep James happy.
