None of them have impressed me no, but they are winning games mostly 1-0, so I suppose it could be said they haven't really played well.

5 more goals then the Everton side you despise.

Mount hasn't even impressed me for the record.
Yeah that's fair enough I guess, they probably do win more with being solid especially under Tuchel. But I also think they're way better than us creatively even if the goals is close.

FWIW I still think our team can be really good but just now how we're currently playing. We had 19 goals through 9 games. We're at 39 through 27 now. 20 goals in our last 18. That's really not great.

For what its worth I like Werner, the goals arent coming, but if he adapts, with his pace, he could do some damage, I like Ziyech, the yank fella looked really good, CHO I just don't see it, but you can see he has potential to improve.

A lot of their players just need more time, Titchel has got them playing very well and next season, with the quality in the squad, they will be a danger.

Thought CHO was the best player in their team last night alongside Havertz.

It just shows how silly this league is, every one of those guys would come here and be in our team and they've got enough to just freeze someone like Pulisic out completely.

There was a bit in that interview he did a bit with Rio Ferdinand where when asked about playing fullbacks he made very clear he was a CB and was only doing a job for the team and wanted to play as a CB. It didn't sound to me he was enormously happy with the role he had.

He must also see that there is a lot of speculation about a new right back. There was probably a world, where Ancelotti and the club essentially knuckled down with Holgate and decided he was the medium term choice and would get a run at it, and given time to improve. Whatever the rights and wrongs of that (and I appreciate it's probably an unpopular view that he could be a 1st choice) it has been decided that is not the avenue they are going down.

I also have a theory on this utility player stuff, that is essentially since more subs came in, it killed the utility man. Even till the early 00's you were only allowed 3 subs, so a lad like Holgate either on your bench or on the pitch gave you options of changing shape or playing a number of players. There was a value in them. The movement to 5, then 7 now 9 subs has essentially killed that off. I don't think it's the key element by any stretch, but versatility is not as key a component as maybe it once was.

As I've got older I've become more ruthless about such things as player trading. I like Holgate, but if theres a choice between a 4th choice or 15-20m pounds my answer is clear. That doesn't mean I don't like Holgate at all, but the money can be better spent. It's like saying would you rather Hoglgate or a 1st choice rightback akin to Lucas Digne? It's not a zero sum game.
Players have shown little loyalty to clubs over the years
Players can get managers sacked so managers have to be ruthless
if you can sell a player and use the money to improve the squad then its a no brainer
If someone offered 80-100 m for either Ricarlison or DCL I would jump at it
Play the one that's left up front and buy 2 quality players with the money

I thought he was outstanding last night as was Reece James and maybe Havertz to a lesser extent

You would honestly argue black is white wouldn't you?

For whatever reason, the fella has so far flopped and proven to be a considerable waste of money.

It doesn't make him a bad player, but the signing hasn't worked out.

Depay flopped at United, Van der Beek is flopping at United and Klaassen stunk the place out here.

That doesn't mean that every player from Holland is bad, but my point was historically and recently, players from the Dutch League haven't made an impact in this league.

Again, that doesn't mean that every player from Holland is bad, nor does it mean we shouldn't buy from there.
To be honest that also says something about the level of scouting in England. If you rule out Leicester most teams in the PL seem to splash out on loads of players who are just plain mediocre or a bad fit at their club. Van de Beek is just not a Man U player, Klaassen never was good enough, Ziyech is a good player but always had weak spots. I did expect Depay to make more of an impact. And while he is playing really well at Lyon at the mo, he still is an enigma to me.

Stefan de Vrij, Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong would all be starplayers at most PL clubs. And Wijnaldum and VVD are also Dutch.

On the other hand, Dutch football was in a downswing basically since 2012. Not the most talented generation from 2012-2018. The last few years we are on the rise again and there are quite a few good youngsters nowadays. I really think the future looks bright again for the Orange Army and it would be a shame to close our eyes for the Dutch league just because there were some bad judgement calls the last few years.

Reckon their bench would have beat us last night.
