Everton Summer transfers 2021

I agree and Tuchel has done the minimum considering their opponents. If we stick with 4-3-1-2, and I hope we do, we do need another striker even with Kean.

We'd realistically be swapping Kean plus modest cash for Abraham, which seems like an absolute no-brainer. Abraham gets to actually play in Europe, we have an attacking front that's Europe quality, and Chelsea moves on an attacker they determined is surplus.

6 defenders is not nearly enough depth
Coleman runs out his contract and hangs around for morales reason, Branthwaite or Nkounkou hang around until January for cover. Gibson can be the 25th man. Whatever.

Those are just the six that will get the vast majority of minutes at the back next season. Defense is sorted, stop overthinking it.

Assuming Europe and the 4-1-2-1-2, the priorities need to be:

- Creative LCM to push Gomes: (Rabiot, Zieliniski, Schlager, etc.)
- Attacking RB (Aarons, Celik, Calabria, etc)
- Striker to rotate in with DCL and Richy, King can resign but he should be the fourth option. I don't see Kean coming back. If we keep King I'd probably go with more of a physical striker to provide cover for DCL. Either a veteran on a free or prospect (Would love Daryl Dike as American, be he's still too raw)

He was promised a locker in the Deliveroo depot

Got bored in the middle of a 5 hour MS Teams meeting so chalked up some stats of the keepers I linked yesterday. Can't find save % without paying money for it and some of the leagues (most) are crap. Pickford doesn't actually fair so badly really but out clean sheets as a team sucks.

So among a peer group largely comprised of age-comparable no-name goalies mostly playing in second-tier leagues, he's decent. That sounds about right. We're not upgrading on the cheap.

It's hard to cross-compare when both league quality and the quality of the defense are confounds. He seems to be decent against PKs, but of course that's always a limited sample size.

I’d say a few of those are an upgrade though. Casteels most certainly is a greater keeper to look at.

Goalkeeper.

If Carlo isn't going to use Nkounkou or Braithwaite aside from extreme emergencies we will need one more defender if we make Europe. If he actually trusts them to play in group stage games or whatever then that's fine.

It's certainly enticing seeing how he is conceding less than half the league average of goals per game. I don't think we will pry him out of there cheaply, though.

Not sure how true this is. But apparently Mina is on 120k a week now and Keane in on 80k a week after his new 5yr deal.

so you can see how it would be much better to have Keane as a potential 2nd/3rd choice CN with Godfrey. Amd bring in a class new number 1. Than having Mina in that situation on ridiculous wages.

Obviously I know people will jump on the fact I’m saying we need a new top class CB. Deep down I think we do. But the point more about what we do with Mina. Maybe he see’s out his contract.
Who do you see as considerably better than what we have. There's only 2 or 3 in the Premier I can think of. Anybody from outside is untried in the Premier and to some degree a risk. What names can you throw in the hat

It’s so difficult that one because there’s always a Nemanja Vidic type that no one had heard of who comes in and is amazing. I think in Holgate (who I rate higher than some others perhaps do) Godfrey and Branthwaite we have a core of good quick strong centrebacks all just lacking a considerable amount of consistent playing time in that position. Keane and Mina in my view whilst very good at defending deep won’t give us the option going forward of being a super expansive team as they don’t have the pace to let us play flying fullbacks or with a high line.

This is a good post. We are not selling Keane or Mina. If anyone goes my guess is its Holgate, but only if Branthwaite is ready to be a first team player. which is probably another year away. Coleman is the most likely odd man out.

The rest of you nerds trying to breakup our best defense in ages need to realize that our manager is Carlo Ancelotti. He doesn't give a fork about your spreadsheets and formulas.

Defensive depth next year:

RB: Holgate, new attacking RB (Aarons)
CB: Keane, Mina, Godfrey, Holgate
LB: Digne, Godfrey

The last thing we need to be spending money on is a CB this summer.

I dont see Coleman leaving this summer tbh. He has another year on his contract so I'd expect him to see it out.

Do you not think that as a group they provide a good mix of skills for all occasions. We won't want to play a high line all the time. I'm very happy with our CB options. We have other areas that need sorting first.

If PSG want Kean we need to absolutely rinse them for the fee. 40m way too low for me.

They will be thinking the same thing.

"Doesn't want to be there, will be a sulk in the dressing room, failed in England, they need the revenue for FFP, we should try and get him on the cheap".

Europa league is a very good competition to blood younger players. I think they would definitely get more game time if we were in europe next year. We would also need an extra centre forward to take the pressure off DCL and Richy.
