Holgate is fourth choice CB
If we sign a RB he is then second maybe third choice RB
He’s the obvious one to go , if they consider Branthwaite has a higher ceiling
If we get Europe we are not selling any of them with the exception of GIBSON

It doesn't make sense to sell Holgate given that he covers multiple positions and is under long term contract.

I don't see why we would sell Gibson, as we would recover nothing meaningful by doing it. We're better off loaning him out and trying to build some value. We'd be unlikely to raise even a million pounds through a sale, which isn't going to make or break the books or a large transfer, and the wages that would come off the books are similarly negligible by footballing standards.

It all depends how ancelotti sees it really. Selling holgate theoretically makes loads of sense - it’d be pure book profit, would have little impact on the starting eleven assuming a new rb came in etc - but obviously if ancelotti sees him as a key player it wouldn’t be a goer. Gibson will only have a year left on his contract so loaning him out certainly wouldn’t build his value, it would just lead to him being released on a free.

Contract expire in summer 2022. Sell.

Christ our Defence minus a first choice right back is pretty much set
Pickers/ Olsen
New rb/ Holgate/coleman Keane/Holgate Mina/ Godfrey Dinge/Godfrey/ Niels

it’s as good as a set of CBS in the league and with the immensely talented Branwaithe coming thru spend where it is needed
I doubt anything will change with the defence this summer, but some have pointed out Mina has 2yrs left on his deal. I’m not sure what money he’s on I’ve read a 100k a week. So are we going to give him a new one for 4 years which will take him to 31. On 150k a week?

With Keane also signing a new deal recently taking him up to 32. Are we going to be saying Keane & Mina will be our 2 main CB’s for the next 3/4 years . Because Mina will be harder to shift when he’s on more money and 2 years older.

If Mina was an elite CB , then fair enough, but for me he’s not. And a number of fans see him as 3rd choice. A very expensive 3rd choice.

So while personally I wouldn’t like to see Mina go, the club definitely have a decision this summer.

Not sure how true this is. But apparently Mina is on 120k a week now and Keane in on 80k a week after his new 5yr deal.

so you can see how it would be much better to have Keane as a potential 2nd/3rd choice CN with Godfrey. Amd bring in a class new number 1. Than having Mina in that situation on ridiculous wages.

Obviously I know people will jump on the fact I’m saying we need a new top class CB. Deep down I think we do. But the point more about what we do with Mina. Maybe he see’s out his contract.

We never let decent players see out their contract; they either sign again or we get money for them.

Whats thoughts on going after young Gilmour at Chelsea?
Keeps the ball really well and from what little ive seen (moreso on what ive heard) he's always trying to play forward rather than the usual sideways/backwards rubbish we've had over recent times.
Dont see Tuchel giving him lots of opportunities as they want success yesterday. Personally think would be well worth an early offer in the summer to see how the land lies.

If we signed Gilmour + Aarons + Antony before any sales then we'd have had a brilliant window.

I actually think even considering selling Holgate is plain stupid.

Theres literally no logic at all to it...neither financial nor on the playing side.

Gibson i could see moving on but equally can see him on loan for another season.

Could you see either Keane or Mina being our starting centre backs in 2 or 3 seasons time?

I cant.

This summer is the ideal time to sell Mina as he only has 2 years left. Its also perfect to sell Keane as hes becoming massively overrated...and overvalued.

The way people talk hes prime Nesta lol

Id sell both of them this window...we would only need one replacement.

I mean there is, and it’s been explained to you a thousand times. I’m not saying we should do it, just that it wouldn’t surprise me, because the logic behind it would be painfully obvious.

Can you link to where someone has explained:

A: The logic of selling a valuable squad member who is nowhere near peak transfer value and has (by his own admission) been off form?

B: The reasoning of selling one of only 2 players in the squad who can play LB/LCB/RCB/RB/DM who appears to have leadership qualities and is well liked by the manager?

All ive read is:

1: He isnt a good player lol

2: Coleman is a better option lol

3: Hes homegrown so we get a fee with no FFP (again not taking into account his actual value) lol

Well we cost ourselves money over Barkley.

Also I think things have changed from years ago , once players get to one left IE Mina summer 22. They are quite happy to sit it out for the next 12months. His agent will be getting plenty of offers to sit tight, till January and sign a pre contract

Nah not at this club; even Barkley got us a fee. Mina will either sign a new deal next season or be sold, simple for me.
