You forgot goal keeper as well
Aarons won’t be 40/50 mil
I never said we wouldn't sign a keeper.

This has been done to death. The whole point is that it would GENERATE money, not waste it.
The theory is that Keane is currently at peak value (consider his age, current performance levels and form over last 18 months) so IF someone out there wanted him then we would get the most for him now. In that scenario, we still have Mina (vastly improved this season) and Godfrey (already a viable option in both a two-man CB setup and a back three) and Holgate who are Prem-ready as CBs. Why do I include Holgate? Because we're almost certainly going to go to the market and buy a starting-standard RB in the summer, so he won't be required to start there next season. If we CAN'T find a suitable RB then sure, Holgate stays there and we leave the CBs alone.
You have to take all the above with a pinch of salt, but why on Earth do you think Carlo and Brands AREN'T keeping their eyes open looking for a tall, pacy CB between 21 and 24 years old from France, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain or the Championship? The club is a business, players are depreciating assets who ALL have to be phased out eventually and Keane is currently our oldest CB. If someone younger and cheaper than Keane comes along and they are better than Branthwaite, then they slot in perfectly. In that instance, if the fee for Player X is £10m less than we're being offered for Keane, give me a single commercial reason why we wouldn't do it.
I agree 100% that the above approach is not traditional. it's not how football teams were assembled 30 years ago and it doesn't sit well with any fan who is emotionally attached to any particular player. But football is a business and the clubs taking part are all commercial entities. If you ignore the commercial side then you just become Leeds in the late 90's.
Nothing Moshiri has done so far in relation to transfers ( either buying or selling ) or wages is a sign that he wants to make moneyAgain, missing the point.
The question is not "How likely is it that someone would offer a big fee for Keane?" The question is "Could we keep a strong rotation of CBs at the club if we accepted a big offer for Keane?"
With Mina, Godfrey and Holgate already here, the answer is "Yes, if we can bring in a young, pacy CB who is approaching Holgate's level." The replacement doesn't have to be as good as Keane, because frankly Godfrey will overtake Keane AND Mina as our first choice CB in about a year at the rate he's going.
And your last point... Yes, Ancelotti is here to win trophies. But Moshiri is here to make money. That's the difference between a club manager and a club owner.
We wouldn't. We'd be looking for another Godfrey-style purchase, someone to slot into the rotation straight away, while Branthwaite goes out on loan again. We would be MAKING money (Sell Keane at £20m - £40m, buy in new guy at £20m - £25m), between £10m and £15m.Mina
Keane
Holgate
Godfrey
Branthwaite
Even if Keane goes, which I doubt he will, why would we spend more money on another 5th CB?
The idea is that Keane is at the age where he will depreciate rapidly. CBs that don't rely on pace can play for a good long while, but you can't sell a CB in their 30s for much.
If I had to guess, Mina will want more than we are prepared to pay and will move on. We'll argue that COVID has reduced market wages, his agent won't want to agree to a pay cut, he'll be shopped around and someone will pay it.
If we were currently paying less generous wages, I think he'd stay, but we had to pay what we had to pay when the larder was bare. 8th sounds like a decent finish until you realize that 8th this season is ten points off that season total with 13 to play.
Mate. Moshiri is a multi-millionaire. If that's not an indication to you that he is keen on making money then nothing anyone can say is going to help you understand.Nothing Moshiri has done so far in relation to transfers ( either buying or selling ) or wages is a sign that he wants to make money
The stadium on the other hand is a different matter
If you disagree then can you give a few examples
Apart from players who wanted to go( Stones , Lukaku, Gana ) he has sold no one the manager wanted to keep and he has pumped money into every managers transfer kitty

Any club worth it's salt will have their scouting department constantly updating their shortlist of prospects at any given position so it's reasonable to assume that their are some potential targets out there. It's not like they randomly plucked Godfrey's name out of a hat.
Er.... yes. That's right. That's what I'm saying.Nah. There are so many more urgent positions to upgrade than be nobbing about at centre half. It's the only position of strength in the entire squad.
If we sign a £20m+ CB in the Summer I'll eat my hat but it's more likely I'll be vaulting this.
He’s a billionaire as is his partner in Everton UsmanovMate. Moshiri is a multi-millionaire. If that's not an indication to you that he is keen on making money then nothing anyone can say is going to help you understand.

Best one from Southall for me was the Sheff Wed away game , I have never seen a goalkeeper performance like it before so since it was a masterclass.I remember being behind his goal against Villa back in 88. we lost 2-0 but he made two saves that were incredible to see from that angle. I was only a kid and in the Villa family enclosure with my mate who is a Villa fan. A split second before each save Villa fans were already on their feet cheering goal. I had been trying to not make it obvious I was a blue because I was so outnumbered but when he made that second save and the fans realised it wasn't a goal and started to sit back down I stood up, turned around to them and went 'F@!k you all'
He’s a tidy player but I would be seriously interested in that Ethan Ampadu if he ever became availableWhats thoughts on going after young Gilmour at Chelsea?
Keeps the ball really well and from what little ive seen (moreso on what ive heard) he's always trying to play forward rather than the usual sideways/backwards rubbish we've had over recent times.
Dont see Tuchel giving him lots of opportunities as they want success yesterday. Personally think would be well worth an early offer in the summer to see how the land lies.
Er.... yes. That's right. That's what I'm saying.
We aren't going to sign a £20m CB and then try to sell Keane. What is being discussed is the hypothetical situation of another club coming in with a big offer for Keane (based on him having a great season to date) and whether, in that scenario, there is any merit to considering such an offer if the numbers meant we'd be making a profit even after bringing in a new CB at £20m.
Of course, no-one understood why Brands and Carlo bought Godfrey for £22m last summer. CB was already our strongest positional group. But they did it anyway, and they were right to do so.
