Manchester United have lost out to Barcelona once again, this time in the pursuit of one of the country's most exciting young players, Leeds winger Elliott Kebbie.

Leeds winger Elliott Kebbie has been long been tracked by Sir Alex Ferguson, and even spent time on trial at Old Trafford last year.

However the 16-year-old winger is on the brink of a move to the European champions after turning out for the Juvenil B team and spending time at the famous La Masia training site.

The winger, who was born in Halifax, is blessed with phenomenal pace and was considered a bright sprinting prospect before choosing to focus fully on football.

Kebbie was due to graduate to the scholarship programme at Leeds' famous Thorp Arch academy next season but has instead made the switch to Spain, for which the Elland Road outfit can expect a hefty fee.

A statement on Leeds' official website said: 'The club has retained its right to compensation should he choose to pursue a football career in Spain and sign for another club.'

Last year reports suggested Manchester United had agreed a £1million compensation package with Leeds for the Kebbie's signature.

Then chairman Ken Bates had also earlier told the club's official website: 'Both Manchester United and Everton came in for Elliott Kebbie who is 15 next week.

Jib Barca off lid and come to the sweetie men. It makes perfect sense.

So its just Bates chatting shiote then?

Well when it first came out about Manchester signing him i asked him and he said i don't know where its come from. He has been in Spain with his mum for a bit now so it is basically nailed on for him to go to Barca. I remember him telling me that Everton inquired in 2010 about him. Bates is a tool so yeah he is stretching the truth. Between you and me, i have seen him play and played against/with him. He isn't all that i have seen better but maybe with training he could become a good player as he is rapid! By the way i am new here

Ha obviously he is a talent but i wouldn't say he is the English Messi! Personally i reckon he is a bit over hyped, painful honest truth from a friend!
