Everton Summer transfers 2021

The problem with this is talented british players are freakishly expensive. Their pricetag compares very weakly against players from abroad with similar abilities.
Yes definitely, I am just being a bit romantic.

I for one think that we don't raid La Liga more often with how technical many of the players are there.

how about instead of spending 60m on Raphinha we go and find our own one.

Have said it a few times now. We need to be getting into these types of players before they make that initial move that propels them and inflates their price tag. We used to be pretty decent at this under Moyes when we had no money. Since we have started throwing the cash around we haven’t half wasted big money on “established” players.

If we had only enough funds to get the positions that we desperately need IE RB and another attacker.

Amd we also needed an aggressive tackler in midfield, then great loan Gana. But we don’t need that type of midfielder anymore. Davies has proved the last 6/7 games. And I know it’s a small sample size, he’s better than gana in the 6 role.
he’s technically better, he can get away from a player and at the moment is not giving away silly passes. We also have Gbamin, obviously he still has a question mark over him, but apparently 6 is his preferred role.

And in Doucoure and Allan we have aggressive box to box midfielders. While Doucoure can be frustrating giving the ball away at times, I think he’s better all round than gana. And Allan is too IMO.

Gomes( who I would sell) offers a play making midfielder. Amd siggurdsson amd James can play the number 10 role, if Carlo wants to go down that route.

I think we do need another midfielder. Amd hopefully we can rid of Gomes & Delph.
And we need another box to box midfielder, who has the physicality of Doucoure, but is a much better footballer.

The midfield is really interesting.

If Davies can continue his progress then for two of the positions we have Davies/Allan and Doucoure/Onyango. Ignoring James perhaps playing centrally, we would still need two more players there for when we play a 3.

Gomes isnt good enough and Delph is dreadful and shouldnt get in a matchday squad. Sigurdsson we need to make a decision on as he'll have a year left.

I can see us signing one player if we keep Sigurdsson and two if we move him on. I imagine Ancelotti will keep him another season and we'll bring in one midfielder.

For me, i see why youre saying a 'box to box' midfielder and others are calling for a 'ball carrier'. However, Id go for a player who can play both defensive and central midfield.

We would then have Allan/Doucoure/Onyango as 'box to box', Sigurdsson (and James) as attacking and Davies and a new player able to play defensive and centrally.

I take the view that we need to win the battle in the centre of the pitch and would go for an u23 player who would also fully replace Allan when he leaves while being good enough from day 1.

Not to mention we will probably get more for our money in that position. Id go for Camavinga, Guimaraes or Kamara.

And for those of you who are scared because of the Klaassen fiasco, keep in mind that Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt also came from Ajax. And Klaassen never was a toptalent. Ajax has a bunch of interesting youngsters at the moment. Would be worth it to keep an eye out for them. Brands will certainly have that covered though.

I find it amazing that Brands hasnt signed any players from the Dutch league or even any youth prospects since joining.

Need to weigh up the fact you could end up with a hole in your accounts if you buy a dud.

For example this one 17m gamble or 50m sure thing.

Remember Sir Alex saying he could have gotten Rio from West Ham for a fraction of the cost but would rather let someone else take the chance of whether he could step up and then pay more.

I think we'll go for overseas players this summer...last summer we went with Allan and James who Ancelotti knows along with Godfrey and Doucoure who we must have been tracking.

There may be a few surprises.

But do we need another youngster who may take a season or two to find his feet. I want someone who’s at the level of Doucoure and Allan. In terms of age and experience amd ready to come into the team.

But also offers something different to them two

If you look at depth, then theres not much quality depth or players with high potential to rotate in a few positions.

Thats where some of these relatively cheap punts come in which allows us to spend more on starters.

The midfield is really interesting.
I think the next step is bringing in midfielders that are comfortable in possession, and who won't be harried off the ball by teams that press them. To me, what really sets the better players apart is being able to move the ball quickly in tight spaces.

Someone with the range of passing to turn defence into attack wouldn't go amiss, either.

I don't watch enough football, so I don't know if such a player exists but at least one first team midfielder who can hold his own, i.e, tackle. Who can also attack and switch play quickly to attack and also chip in a few himself. Doucoure has been a damn sight better than we've had but another (hopefully better) would be nice. Along with at least one rb and rw and forward. Not much to ask is? :D
