Everton Summer transfers 2021

I mean we have some fans that rate crap players and some that hate good players. Just because one random Besiktas fan didn’t think he’d be good for the PL doesn’t mean it was an obvious mistake from Everton at the time lol

For me, to get the most out of Tosun, in the Prem, you have to play a certain way. He needs balls into the box, he is no good with through balls or playing it to feet 20 yards out. But whip crosses into the box and he will get goals.
He is an allardyce forward, play the percentages, get crosses in. That's why he signed Tosun and Walcott. It worked at times.
I hope Tosun scores lots on loan and a few teams want to buy him

I wouldn't mind having someone above his level but there are probably 25 in the world who qualify so not easy to do.

And I'm not even saying bring Gana back fwiw, but this revision where he was a terrible player aside from working hard and tackling is an unreal one.
There’s 20 in the premier league better

We definitely need another midfielder this summer. But I want someone who’s a class above Gana’s level . If you want gana back or someone similar. Then it probably says that’s the difference between us when it comes to ambition.
goodnight

I would like someone younger certainly, if we could get sangare or someone like that. But I would have Gana back if we could move on Delph. Delph is basically taking up a shirt, he will never play and is poor. Gana was one of the best players in his position in the league when we sold him. At the time when he was sold it made sense financially, but if the finances make sense we should get him back. If we don't another Premier league team will and we will kick ourselves.

How was he one of the best in his position. What position was this?
because as a number 6 he wasn’t great infront of the back 4 and was a accident waiting to happen on the ball

And as a number 8 he offered nothing in the oppositions half. But he did have good parts to his game

Technique wise I’ve always said he’s a good player but definitely doesn’t have the body for the PL.

I don't think we do, people forget he wasn't great at passing. He's older and slower and don't we want better? He did a good job at the time, no denying it but let's aim higher.
I'm not saying sign Gueye, he was a fine enough passer given the work he did without the ball, I was responding originially to a post saying we want the opposite of Gueye which isn't true because we need more tackling and ball winning in the middle of the park and aiming higher is hard to do because he was a really good player for us and those aren't just sitting around for us to sign.

Unless of course you're going to tell me aiming higher is Ruben Neves or Yves Bissouma.

Ah, apologies.I must have misread. Unfortunately while he's probably a slightly better option than some of our current midfield, we should be aiming for better signings.
I have never mentioned Neves or Bissouma so I don't understand why you would mention them?

I'm just saying people would bring them up as players we should sign thinking they'd move us forward but personally I feel neither is anywhere close to Gana's past level, so imo that isn't aiming higher at all.

I get it, Gueye was average with the ball, but he was legitimately in a group of 5 or so guys in terms of winning it back and that is extremely valuable. I mean we've seen where it got Kante who was only ever marginally better in possession if he was at all. It's similar to how people talk about James not being good defensively but it shouldn't matter, players have different jobs and Gueye did his at an elite level as James does.

Have to think Pulisic and COH are on the way out at Chelsea. Possibly even Tammy.

if we are in Europe next season, we will need cover at Striker and at least one more Winger.

We should steer clear of those 3 players.

50m+ plus would be top ten all time fee for a defender? And our record fee. I too find that doubtful.

However, expect RB to be our biggest outlay this summer.

Aarons / Emerson / Lamptey / Celik...£20-30mil ?

i think we'll spend the most money on a CM or RF.

He did but he's given him basically none at Chelsea so I'm not sure the Dortmund stuff is relevant anymore.

I don't love feeding off the scraps of other clubs but Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi are both young, improving and exactly what we don't have on our flanks.

Pulisic hasnt won the Ballon D'or yet then mate ? lol

CHO is having his best spell as somewhat a RWB...let that sink in.

I think pace is overrated.

We showed how you combat kick and rush football last night.

Speed of thought and moving the ball quickly is different than pace, I feel that's what we lack, somebody who drives with the ball and doesn't put their foot on it like for example what Gomes and Iceland are prone to doing.

Look at the boy Hamez, there are snails that move faster, but the way he got that ball under control and instantly slotted through Rico, that's the pace we lack, the pace in the head.

When teams pack 2 teams of 4 at Goodison, pace wont break that down, moving the ball fast, pulling apart their shape, that's how you break the lines, if there's no space, how will Usian Bolt pace help?
There’s not a single right way. Kick and rush football walked the league last year.

You seem to think I've overrated Pulisic in some major way and I'm really not sure I have. I've obviously said I rate him highly, but I also rate Richarlison pretty highly and Pulisic is every bit as good as Richarlison is at the very least and still younger. I don't really think it is that outlandish except for the part where people around here seem to have an issue with Americans supporting American players.

Hudson-Odoi is in the category of showing lots of promise but not being given a proper chance. I'd love for us to be the team that gives him the proper chance.

Honestly fwiw I think if given the choice of the two of them I'd take Hudson-Odoi first.

I don't understand this fan base at all. We overrate players who are good but have clear flaws, sing the praises of bang average ones, defend to the death ones that show they can't do it for years and disparage some of our best players time at the club once they leave. I get that supporters are going to have some clouded judgment but is it possible to be at least a little objective?

Pulisic and Richarlison are both having down years, but last year one scored goals at a higher rate. I'll let you figure it out. I'm not even making a call on who is better, but this is unreasonable. But hey, you're still trying to sell Michael Keane right?
