ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

“I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.”
Bene Gesserit Litany Against Fear
As @davek 's God rightly once said; "sin miedo "

Or summat.

If we play like we did against City, then we should be able to get something off these. Play like we did against Fulham and we're screwed.

Our fate is totally within our hands this time round. I believe that this could be the perfect opportunity to see the long term futures for both sides. Hopefully it shows us the sunlit uplands of success rather than a boggy quagmire of Walter Smithesqueness.
What I don’t get is that against United we tried to score during two 10 minute spells and scored 3 goals. Against City we tried to score after their first goal and did. What are we so scared about?

To be honest, I am not scared about this match. We need to overcome kick and run cloggers like the rs to get to the top. I want to see that happen this time round. Beat them once, and I think the mental barriers that seem to abound over this game can disappear like smoke.

As much as I'd love to see the rs put to the sword, my brain says that we should treat these like we do a Leicester or Spurs. Decent quality but nothing so special that we can't beat them. We managed fairly well against City's superior attack and apart from a deflection and 2 outstanding moments of skill and technique that only the very best can produce - which ironically I think we are more likely to produce now with the likes of James in our team.

The real joker in the pack is our performances against the likes of Newcastle and Fulham when we take the eye of the ball - something which I hope will not happen tomorrow.

City, Spurs and ManU all scored at least 3 against us. Newcastle and Fulham manage 2.
We can't outscore the opposition every week, especially when our main attacking threat is injured.

"A week later, two weeks later, three weeks later after we got the diagnosis [on Van Dijk] and all these kind of things, it was good we didn't play Everton immediately again, let me say it like this."

Is he trying to suggest he'd have sent out his players out to purposely injure our players if we had met them sooner ?

Apart from their front two they are pretty much bang average.
Thier goalkeeper is totally shot.
They don't have a pair of centre backs worth talking about and
TAA is liability. Henderson is hardly KDB is he? Their whole game
is reliant on that front 2 performing. Apart from the gruesome twosome
you match them man for man with the possible exception of Robertson.
You can get a result.

The sob stories beginning already I see.

Genuinely getting a hiding tomorrow. Klopp saying he'd hurt our players won't get recognised.

Sky Sports News literally open with on the hour "4 months on from Van Dijk's injury in the last derby". We're absolutely screwed, red cards and injuries all over the gaff for us tomorrow.

Ancelotti needs to bring up the death threats sent to Pickford, his wife and his little child. That those who hype what was an unfortunate accident up are partially complicit in this violence towards women and children.

Overall I don't worry about us. We are not a dirty team, it was an accidental collision. I worry they will be dirty especially after the previous few derbies, and ultimately get away with it again. So again, hopefully Ancelotti can make mention of that, and say protection works both ways.

I also hope we are ready for gamesmanship on Saturday. If a player gets kicked, roll about, surround the ref etc.

I hope Liverpool do see this as their big opportunity to right a percieved wrong, and spend the game trying to kick us. A scrappy game, with lots of free kicks suits us. We just have to ensure we milk the contact like they do.

The right wing media will of course be a disgrace in the lead up to this.

I agree with you in one sense - but CA is well aware that the last thing Pickford needs is more attention, no matter how sympathetic towards him. JP's brain is absolutely fried and seeing the press conference you fancy he will play.

Less attention the better here
