We still technically had 4 Right Backs on our books.

I know, you would have just bought another 1, The American Steve Walsh there.
I'd have picked up Sidibe's option before going into a year with Coleman and Kenny.

And I know the stuff about hindsight but for me it isn't really that, I've been out on Kenny since he looked silly at Leicester a couple years ago and Coleman longer than that.

I think sadly we had to use a degree of prudence sadly.

We really wanted rid of Kenny, nobody would pony up, so sadly that left us, taking a chance, a chance I do suspect they knew wouldn't work, but they had a 1 in 4 chance of somebody making it their own.

We do need another centre back...if we want to play high or a 3 man defence

Like it or not, only Godfrey and holgate have the pace to play a high line and also seem to be able to play in a 3 CB system, possibly Mina and Branthwaite as well as they bring the ball out of defence.

Mancini is a really good centre back with power, pace, snide/aggression and can come out with the ball in 4 or 3 man defence.

Mancini counts Marco Materazzi as one of his footballing idols, and the reason he has preferred to wear the No. 23 during his career (doing so at both Perugia and Atalanta). He also has the number tattooed on his body.

Mancini on Materazzi...hes also got his same shirt number which he also has a tattoo of

“I always admired Marco’s character and fighting spirit,” Mancini has said. “He was one of those players who always looked you square in the eye even when things were going badly. He inspired his teammates, you could always tell that.”
We do not need another CB, it’s going to be hard enough keeping them all happy when all fully fit and branthwaite back. Keane is the first man on the team sheet

mina for me, but correct, we are strong are cb.
Branthwaite won’t be near the first team for a while yet. I suppose it depends if we received a good offer fir any of them.
I feel Holgate is now 4th choice and could go. And IMO Keane & Mina aren’t quite at the level we need long term

Picking up Sidebe would mean he was on the books for at least another three years. It would have meant another average player hanging round taking salary. JJK will move on and a proper first choice RB will come in in the summer. Coleman will be backup for a season.
This way we actually put in a long term solution.

Picking up Sidebe would also have meant not signing one of James, Alan or Godfrey, or possibly Olsen or King. The budget has to come from somewhere.

Going to be an interesting summer...

Mina: 2 years left on his deal so either its extended or hes sold.

Keane: Keep him and it means were playing a deep defence again next season and hes at peak value.

Holgate: Sell and we lose someone who can play across defence.

If we keep Godfrey + Branthwaite and one of those 3 players...sell the other two then we have funds for a big signing there.

Keane + Mina sold gives us the most money to go out and bring in a top level centre back.

It wouldn't have been a smart long term decision at all, but we aren't making those anyway, and for me Sidibe was better than Seamus last year.

I was mostly joking but we'd be better at RB.

Let’s talk about Yangel Herrera, Venezuelan CM at Granada on loan from City

Technical and strong. Not slow, but not Doucoure quick. I like him.

If we continue to play 4-3-3 and Allan and Doucoure are 2 of the midfielders we need tge 3rd midfielder to be someone that can get 10-15 goals a season. If this is James then we need to get in a right winger as a starter if not we need someone who can hit said target and a back up right winger. We need 2 right backs the 2nd one if he can cover left back as well it would give us squad depth. A striker who understands that he may have to wait for his opportunity and who is effective from the bench. Also a goalkeeper who is better than the 2 we have now.
