The time to do this was after the world cup. I actually suggested this in the January and that we should go after Henderson, who was 3rd choice keeper at United and on loan to Championship side Sheffield United and receiving great plaudits.
Pickford's stock was still high and he had become England's undisputed number 1. We were heavily reliant on Richarlison and in need of a centre forward but had no money. He was somebody we could cash in on.
Needless to say the suggestion didn't go down too well on here. We wouldn't get decent money for him these days. In fact we'd probably struggle to sell him because we gave him a 6 year contract in 2018 on £100k per week.
We need to face up to the reality that our best chance with Pickford is that he stops making stupid mistakes and rediscovers some kind of form.
