I’m think it might of been difficult to offload his wages for a loan deal, that’s why he’s stayed here. Therefore Gordon goes out for game time.

Always liked Bernard but his wages to output ratio hasn't been great. If we sold for £9m and the wages gone, it wouldn't been a decent sale.

I do think he'll benefit massively from having less to do defensively once Allan is back though, and he could yet prove himself in the rest of the season.

Of the players the management wanted to leave Bernard has contributed most in the season so far , from that point he may well be used again depending on injuries and suspension.
However, it is very clear now where he stands and his agent will be trying to get a move for him in the summer.

I have said from the start that he doesn't have the pace or strength for the wing.
I would love to see him get a run just behind the striker where his control and skill could be effective and his lack of pace and strength less of a liability.

I think that if his salary was half of what it is we might not be so determined to get him to leave.

Bernard is obviously very skillful but he can be frustrating. He's the type of player who would excel in Italy or do good in Spain. Sometimes he's lacking just a little bit of pace but has contributed when he's been involved at times. The wages are crazy but he was a free.

And as part of a fluid and interchanging 3 playing behind DCL of Richy, Bernard and James in front of Allan it not only looks good on paper but also gives the team a lovely 'South Americans with British first names' feel.

After hearing Ancelotti talk about Bernard I think he likes him, I’m hoping now he will be used more, he has pace and that is what we are lacking in the side atm. Now Bernard needs to be used more.
