I remember us signing Marcus Bent late on in his career when big Joe Royle told us to sign him a few seasons earlier which was ignored , he had a great season we finished 4th - Josh King ias a similar example on our doorstep at Blackburn going fairly cheap , and we ignored him to ......
The deal is only 6 months he has a contract to earn he can play wide too.......under our financial restrictions plus our overpaid deadwood perhaps he was the best we could afford in these circumstances short term .......
Our youth policy fetching players through into the first team as signing oldish prima donas who fail like Sig etc has to stop also long contracts has to stop - welcome to Josh King as someone forecast it was an undisclosed fee wages probally dominated his choice us or Fulham ......
He has half a season to prove himself which is far better terms for us at least ........

Not really.

We got him on loan where he scored 9 goals in 8 games and then signed him permanently. He had a decent first full season scoring on average 1 in 3. then the nex 2 seasons with less goals but played less due to injuries and still averaged 1 in 3, then another decent season and then injuries started to take its toll in his last 2 seasons where he barely played

Played a total of 139 games for us and scored 52 goals which is definitely not a 1 in 4 striker.

Wikipedia says he played 137 league games scoring 36 goals.

Pleased with this. Possibly a bit of a Souness take but I do think when you have talented players (which he is imo) and they end up not really doing much in their career, there is a bit of question mark over attitude. The fact he seemed not really to fancy being back in the Championship is understandable but doesn't reflect particularly well on him either.

Those factors make a short-term deal ideal. We can see what he's like and whether he will properly compete for a place in the squad. Let's get it J. King.

My feeling is that he's technically no better than Walcott. ... But I'm not bothered about that

What I'm bothered about is that he's prepared to ruffle some feathers at Finch farm like Godfrey seems to have done... he is coming to a club offering less because he's prepared to show he's worth more. This can only be a good thing when we've been and currently are saddled with expensive lazy luxury players like Gylfi, Gomes, Delph.

I'll take a look mate as I used an Everton stats website which is usually decent. If that's the case though then I shall apologise to the fella who posted originally.

Doesn't change the fact he was great for us for a period of time.

Just double checked @MikeH72 and deffo scored 51 goals (not 52 as one of the goals was taken off him and given to Davey Weir). Its on Toffeeweb which is usually great for appearances, goals scored, and other seasonal stats.

If he’s no better than Walcott we can boot him out in the summer. He seems like a decent bench warmer/someone to put pressure on the front 3 to me.
