Heitinga walked into the team, and the league, on around 55K-60K a week if I recall correctly.

So your logic is a bit duff.

jonny heitinga is a versatile, seasoned international who learnt his football at one of the finest academies in the world. demba ba has done what exactly? im not saying i dont want him to come, i'd welcome practically any striker with open arms. just saying i dont see why he should be arriving and asking for parity with the likes of jags, ossie or baines.

as LCAB has now stated there werent any outrageous wage demands might point is moot anyway.

He was offered a new contract a while back.

Once on here when I was calculating how much he'd cost us since he last scored (the time he had that barren 11 months) I estimated his wage and THT told me it was a lot higher than I thought. I believe he expressed it was around the £60K mark, yes. I'd be happy for LCAB/THT to confirm this or correct me, either way, but I'm fairly sure that's close.

I forgot about his new contract! But still, 60k a week... That's the second highest amount in the squad behind Arteta. It seems to be uncharacteristic of Everton to be offering a more senior member of the squad who has a poor appearance record that amount of money!

It doesn't matter how fancy Heitinga's resume is, the fact is he is a utility player for us. If you're prepared to pay a utility player those kind of wages, you should be prepared to pay your main frontman that.

didnt know Saha was on that much .Thanks for the update LCAB hope the trip the hossy went OK.

If we are struggling to maintain the wage bill ,maybe hes wanting to move some of the higher earners(Yak,Yobo) before we commit to new deals?

Thanks for the update LCAB. I think most players are going to be looking for 50-60k a week if they've played in the premier league before, unfortunately.

heitingas a utility player because we have jags and distin who've been very ogod together and felli who is one of the best young players in the league! he would get onto 13-14 other teams in the league no bother! and to say ba is going to be "our main frontman" is a bit premature, first of all moyes is going to need convinced to play with more than one man up front and secondly jermaine's 10 goals, largely from the bench, dont deserve to be overlooked quite so quickly.
