Agree with you entirely. Thought he had a good game against tough opponents and did his best defensive display - not saying much admittedly but worked hard.
His chance at the end was extremely difficult as the ball came at stomach height not chest height, very difficult to control.
Thought thought the problem in midfield was down to James giving a poor display - apart from the superlative goal - he looked very tired from the start and I’d have subbed him after 65 minutes, he looked frustrated following his booking and I’d have put Iwobi on for more energy. Leicester had a lot of space in midfield and controlled the game.
I though as much last night. James, Richarlinson and DCL all looked tired to me or in need of match sharpness. Probably Sigurdsson/Iwobi for 2 of the 3 earlier might have helped.
As for the chance at the end, it is a difficult chance. It's the 93rd minute, he's exhausted, the team are exhausted, it skids off the surface higher and quicker than anticipated and he sees it late. As you say it was that awful height as well, as you say right in the stomach, very hard to get a leg up to it, or a head down to it. I mean he could pre empt and throw everything at it and probably fail, or he backs his technique, controls and then lashes it in. Unfortunately, with the conditions and fatigue it bounces off him.
I keep saying it, but it's one of them. He will get a lot sharper for a proper 90. If we want to go from a side that is competing for the top 4 to one that that breaks into it and wins titles, they are the moments you have to take. You think of his, the Pickford 1, and the 2 chances for Richarlinson/DCL. We need to convert at least 1 of those 4 better. If we do, it's ultimately an underwhelming performance where we get the job done, and what champions do.
I can see us getting to that point, with the players we have, and some targetted additions, but will take time.
