Its different for every player though isn’t it. James’s age doesn’t bother me because he doesn’t have any pace anyway, he’ll still be at the same level for the next 2 or 3 years. Firmino has always been about pace and aggression, he’s already declining, and it’s unlikely that Mane and Salah will be at the same level when they’re 32 as they were when they were 27. The one I worry about for us is Allan as I hope at some point he doesn’t just fall off a cliff or keep picking up injury after injury but we had little choice as we needed the quality injection so badly.

You could say that Salah, Mane, Firminho are on a downward trajectory and Milner, Shaqiri and Wijnaldum would likely be out this summer.

Allison, VVD, Matip, Thiago and Henderson should all have another 4 years in them and i think that we would be able to say the same for Keane, Doucoure and James.

Allan i think would still be an effective squad player in 4 years time.


The other thing to look at would be the players 22-27 on both sides who could be considered starters or around the main 11

I think after this season, Klopp will be looking to jump as he sees a rebuild on the horizon, one which the club probably can't afford after Covid, that in turn will turn the fans onto the board and a front page Echo headline trying to force them terrible yanks out of the club

Interesting comparison. Obviously the whole dynamic would change if they brought in Mbappe and Sancho this summer for example. But a lot of brighter people than me have explained why that isn't going to happen.
