I cant see KDB taking that long to get back in. They didn't say what grade tear it was did they?

I wouldn't be surprised if Guardiola always had in mind resting him up with a run of very winnable games against Cheltenham, WBA, Sheffield United and Burnley.

I see it more in terms of a strategic resting up. He'll make the Liverpool game, IMO. If not that, the Spurs game.

I don't know if anyone has just seen the Maddocks Mirror piece from Klopp. It's not far off a decleration of war on the owners that. Essentially tmhrowing them under the bus for no CB.

When you go public like that against owners, it rarely ends well for either party.

If there was no money for any centre half, pretty serious situation.

Aguero: what's the typical timeline for a player coming back in again after testing positive? Fairly quickly isn't it? 2 weeks out? Salah was back after 2 weeks IIRC.

His statements, via Maddocks who's a good journalist and generally supportive of their board are very telling. They are as barbed as any I remember from Benitez. They all laud Benitez, but essentially that fight he picked started a process of them being 20th in the league, from top of the league in about 18 months, with the owners gone.

The key question is why has Klopp done it now? Either it's a pressure play to get a CB, or he can see how much trouble they are in, and knows hes out his depth so getting retaliation in 1st.

You put this, next to the stuff about top 4, that is going to be sending major alarm bells with FSG in America.

The red who initially gave me the heads up that they were losing all that money in the summer (later confirmed by Richard Keys weeks later, you probably remember me putting it on here) said to me pre the Burnley game, if they miss out on CL "it will set the club back years". Hes normally fairly optimistic, so I'm inclined to believe him.

If we dont see a CB signed, you know it's the latter of the above too.

Oh, and the red social media verse have gone into meltdown about that article. Like a full on civil war. This is cops v fascists time for me, where you just grab the popcorn and watch them beat merry hell out of each other.

Has Aguero kicked a ball all season? Absolutely finished him, might as well unregister him from the squad.

I'm not sure KDB has been that good this season. They have been successful being built off a very solid back line. It's a hit for City, but even a weakened City is now miles ahead of a of even a peak Liverpool.

I think they will step up to the plate, Bernardo Silva has found his form at the right time, they played their best match for a couple of years against Villa who are in my opinion a good team now Who will give anyone in this league a game.

They are skint. Due to covid nobody is paying stupid prices for their dross, the likes of Wilson, Origi, Grujic, Shaquiri etc who they were probably counting on making about £60mill from. Brewster was considered one of their best prospects and he was sold to fund Thiago.

May be another crisis incoming when the big teams cant afford Mane/Salah so they wont have any funds in the summer either. On top of that, quite a few of their big players will have 2 years to run on their deals so do they stick or twist? New bumper contracts come with big £££ too.

No wonder they cant pay Wijnaldum what he wants.

Yes that's a good point.

In general football fans dont really grasp the severity of what is a middle manager calling out the owners in such a public way.

If I went on TV, in front of hundreds of thousands of people and buried the owners of where I work needlessly, I would know it was the beginning of the end for me.

Owners dont change their plans either. If anything it will entrench them. It's a desperate move.

I dont think Klopp makes it if:
1- He thinks theres any feasible chance they can turn it round and win the league
2- That hes not worried top 4 is in jeopardy.

It's pure self preservation. He will know there isnt really any easy way back from this. The owners will have had a plan, he will have been a part of that plan and by all accounts been given more input than most managers theyve had. Yet he breaks cover now, and essentially washes his hands of it at what is the 1st sign of trouble.

Theres blame on both sides, and theres absolutely no doubt Klopp is the magic dust at Liverpool, not FSG (or certainly was) but this is poor from him.

It tells me that the crisis is much deeper than most people realise too. These are not the actions of a man who thinks VVD is imminently returning and all will be fine when he does. It goes well beyond those problems.

We can speculate of course. Maybe it's just that he can see the squad is now into the red zone with nowhere to go. Maybe he knows theres no money in the summer. Could be both. They seem the most obvious to me.

All in all it's a nightmare for FSG. Most managers saying the above would be getting managed out by American owners. Remember when Mourinho did something (less serious admittedly) at United? They hung him out to dry and was sacked within 6 months. Klopp has enormous credit in the bank though, so will be very very hard for them to manage this situation.
