ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

The amount of drivel we’ve had to read about Thiago since he signed, and they can’t win a game with him in the starting line up

Surely at some point the commentators will stop fawning over him every time he makes a 5 yard pass. He clearly has a very good passing range, but he still gives the ball away so often for someone who is apparently ‘the best in the world’.

Against United he passed one off the pitch and the commentator said ‘Thiago really starting to control the game here’. It’s ridiculous

It’s great seeing Liverpool struggling at the minute but by no means are they out of the title race yet

Exactly, though their dip in form should be alarming to them, as it started at the end of last season and seems to have only snowballed since. They're not the same team, don't seem to have the same amount in their lungs for some strange reason. The only reason they're not out of the title race is because there are no other teams dominating like you'd have every season. City look the best of the lot atm, but otherwise every other team, even the good ones, are scrapping for wins. It should actually be a pretty exciting race provided City don't pull away

Aye, they want him to be great so badly. He's not a bad player tbf, but if James got the same sort of light-touch treatment he'd be praised as the next coming of Maradona. Instead it's "doesn't track back".

tbh, all it takes is one well timed run of results, so nobody in the top 8 is really totally out of it
They aren’t and it would be foolish to write them off, but if Cory win their game in hand, they’re 7 points clear of them. City’s defence is rock solid since Dias came, which is the stability they haven’t had at the back since Kompany was in his prime.

I’m just hoping the media do start to turn on him a little like they did with James after his first little dip in form.

John Barnes and Didi Hamman have already come out saying he’s not a good suit for liverpool and he slows the game down too much.

He is clearly a very classy, silky player, nice on the eye, but he contributes nothing in terms of goals / assists.

But as is their way, der reds had to build him up as ‘der best in der werld la’, ala Naby Keita....

He's also very easy to bypass. Burnley got past him like he wasn't even there time after time after time after time.

I'm not sure what type of player he's meant to be, certainly reminds of Gomes where they look good on the ball but need someone beside them to do the defensive work.

Last summer I had one of them outright arguing with me that TAA is better than Kimmich.

That opinion was awful to begin with, but time has not been kind.

Hilarious how out of his depth he looks without Van Dijk next to him.

Robertson as much as I hate the little rat can still defend at least, but ‘Trent’ gets skinned by any winger who runs at him.

He’s also been terrible on the ball recently.

Also, is there any other player in the league that gets referred to solely by their first name by commentators? Makes me sick every time I hear carragher say ‘Trent’

He definitely can’t tackle at all. How he wasn’t booked for the lunge on wood in the second half is beyond me.

James isn’t in the same league as him tho apparently. ‘There are levels to this game’ they told us haha!

I'm sure he's a quality player but I just haven't seen anything that makes me think he is a massive upgrade on what they already have and how they play which is basically get it to the full backs and the front 3 pronto.

19ish games gone and 6 or 7 teams have been top, some 2 or 3 times. The whole landscape has changed in half a dozen games.
Leagues seem to go in patterns, the pattern for this one is - there is no pattern...up to now.
There's 3 lots of 'half a dozen' games to go

As ever Dylan has a line or two for it
...Don't speak too soon, For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who that it's namin'
For the loser now
Will be later to win

...The slow one now will later be fast
As the present now will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now will later be last.
