I don't think our statement went far enough. We should've been asking more direct questions of City.

Back in training already? We all know they pulled a fast one because they had injuries and didn't fancy playing an in-form Everton side.

FFP cheats and a classless club from top to bottom. I've never forgot the way they behaved towards during the protracted Lescott transfer all those years ago.

Tramps with a few bob. That is all they are.
Respectfully curious here.

Why are we assuming the worst of City?

Is that more important than the safety issue and with the fixture congestion + bank holiday how could this have been prevented?

City announced Jesus and Walker on Christmas.

Then it was the weekend/bank holiday/Boxing Day.

Then the Newcastle game which City played on 27 December so clearly either tests that day or the next led to the next array of results that led to the new cases found.

Our fixture together was then the 29th.

Where is the problem to be discovered that would allow for the game to be played?

If there is an outbreak in their pod/bubble the protocol HAS to be isolation for everyone, players/staff so even those we don’t know if are positive or not, they can’t play the game against Everton and risk spreading to other players, and anyone else they encounter.

Why is that not the assumption rather than City are cheating and somehow the PL is either helping or not doing due diligence.

Why not speak to the PL privately about it? Throwing City under the bus based on speculation (if that’s it) seems a bit misguided.

Could it be whoever wrote ad approved that statement was angry for good reason because it was a good time for Everton to play City?

Maybe it was published because - I hate to say this as I want to give your club the benefit of the doubt - but that they knew City are wildly unpopular with certain fans, the writer/approved may have their own feelings about City (Remember, Everton was one of the 9 PL clubs who wanted City banned right away and not delayed - their own attempt to find a competitive advantage) and know calling City “cheaters” can help their claim.

Btw, I wrote this elsewhere but I actually have tried to think through the idea that City may have tried to take advantage of the situation delaying the sharing of results to get the postponement.

It could be true. I can’t say for sure, but even if it MIGHT be true, without real evidence, saying what Everton said in that statement seems pretty odd instead of presenting real evidence FIRST to defend the position and then make the claim.

Well, there we have it.

Compare and contrast the reactions of Tottenham and Everton. Tottenham have the decency to wish Fulham well. Everton called for a "full disclosure" from the Premier League with no word of good will to City. Speaks volumes.

And the knuckle draggers amongst you want a fight. Is that the level of debate on here? Yeah, stay classy, eh.

Dry your eyes mate and stop chatting absolute wham - get back to following your oil moneyed shower of rule breaking gobshites and leave us to ask some fair questions of the league and your corrupt club if you don't mind.

Everton were absolutely within their rights to ask the questions they have, and why the decision was made so late, without any consultation to the team holding the event - kinda like the shekels from your Arab overlords paid for the cancellation with the league, no?

Oh look, I see that shitteh have miraculously managed to re-open the covid riddled training ground a mere 48 hours after bleating about a huge covid outbreak?!

More evidence of oil well FC buying the postponement of you ask me - fraudiola running scared of playing us?

Your team is corrupt and a shower of cheats - accept that and move on back to your own teams forums you turd.

The irony of a City fan coming on here and talking about class.

Knobhead.
No need to go there.

I’m a City supporter who is not always 100% blindly in support of the club. We are not all alike.

Few if any fans/clubs/entities are really saints in all this and what goes on in globalised football if you ask me, but that’s another conversation.

So City had 5 players out Monday and today they are resuming training. Everton wants an explanation why the game was cancelled without them knowing. And Everton are the baddies?

The players who tested positive are now isolating, the rest of the squad have been tested again and all negative(for now). People are piling on Everton because the statement they put out was petulant and accusatory and showed zero concern for the players and staff affected. No other club has acted this crassly, and from a club that styles itself "the peoples club" and goes to great lengths to distance itself from the circus over the road. it shows a remarkable lack of awareness.

This threads a lot bigger than it was yesterday so can't be arsed going all the way through but....

Now that Fulham have got a Spurs game postponed what's the latest take on the Citeh game being called off as evidence of a pro Sky6 / Anti Everton conspiracy?

Just like to keep in the loop without going through a hundred-odd pages. Is quite funny seeing the Citeh fan crying over a club statement though.

It seems that whatever the club there are a significant proportion of fans who see conspiracy everywhere and love to thrash around in the murky waters of small time victim mentality.

Thats a bit much to claim who issued the club statement had man citys reputation with journalists and the media in mind. I mean why would you think anyone here is even arsed about that.
The statement was pretty clear. We were told zippery do. Are those connected with man city expecting us to believe this wasnt being discussed between city and the PL way before. And certainly way before anyone bothered to let us know. Not a peep from city btw at those within Everton who needlessly came in.
Everton are not a club who dont show respect. Maybe those at city might want to think on about the reaction and as to why.
That would be fair enough if that’s true. I’d love to believe that. Honestly.

But I also don’t know why one would assume that.

Isn’t this a public relations campaign to garnish empathy and make both the PL and what seems like City look bad?

Why no positive words towards City about the cases then?

That seems odd to not include if you aren’t coming in with some kind of suspicion about them as a club, which seems to me that you full well know about their reputation.

If you had a problem with what happened why go public and not directly behind doors to the PL? Did they? What happened, if so, that did not suffice?

How you can know for sure Everton did due diligence here for certain I would love to be shown evidence of. Genuinely.

I don’t think any club with all of the millions of pounds at stake during a pandemic that decimated finances and economies would would completely be immune from influence of those pressures in their decision making to gain a competitive advantage.

We would like to have been told that you lot had decided not to come from you. Not your Dad.

And why.

All a bit unsavoury. Very impolite.

It's a good thing that City don't have more covid results.

It's a good thing that the game was called off. Unfortunate for the fans who had tickets, but it's better that it was called off than risked going ahead.

The Premier League should have consulted Everton, but the decision made would have been the same.

Well i read yesterday fulham were letting everyone know about their situation and they would possibly not meet the fixture. So i doubt spurs were in full match mode. Or they at least had precautions in measure. Think the whole crux of it comes down to wether anyone believes city contacted the PL at 4pm to say oh we cant make it. I dont think many believe that. And if that is the case why Everton were not part of that.

It was fairly simple what City and the league should have done. Just keep us informed.

Why did City put out a statement saying we'd been consulted when that wasn't true?

So to summarize:
-Everton is well in their right to ask
-Woe is city everyone hates us
Not sure how that was how you can take what I’ve written.

Everton are in their right, sure, but there’s a lot of complexity about doing so publicly and the way they did, and there are other reasons to consider/criticise this given safety.

The way the statement was written and decided to be published can certainly be seen as some form of exploiting City’s public relations problem as some sort way to get “payback” for the game being postponed in a way they felt was not “fair” to Everton.

I have 100% tried to go through scnearios with other City fans & journalists how City may not be entirely “innocent” either. It is difficult to tell and the circumstances of COVID in the UK now + the fixture congestion made this situation ripe for happening where it may be entirely innocent or somewhere in the middle as well.

Why not just go after the PL privately rather than what was done.

That implies some beef with City’s reporting and the PL’s either complicity or just poor management.

If it was the latter then that makes this statement even more odd as you’d clearly target the PL and speak positively of City and express support for the health of players, etc. That did not happen.

All because Everton didn't wish the City players well in a press statement, This is frankly embarrassing stuff to read and you are looking for issues that don't exist.
