He ran from behind to get in front.

That's what I meant. He did what every striker would do, he ran in front of Gomes to try and win the ball (is Wilson meant to just stand there and allow Gomes a free hit?) Gomes was too slow and didn't react. Wilson made a meal of it but there was contact, it was a soft pen but it was a pen.

As I said earlier, I always go by how I would feel if that was for us, I would be fuming if we didn't get it.

I'll go:
Olsen - 8
Kenny - 5 (tried to give us width but simply doesn't have the pace or power to be a PL fullback)
Mina - 4
Keane - 5
N'Kounkou - 6 (would help if someone moved for him and gave the lad some support)
Delph - 2 (so many misplaced passes and passes behind the player's side, plus evey cross into the first defender)
Allan - 6
Doucoure - 5
Sigurdsson - 2 (how is he continually selected, nevermind captain? A captain is meant to set the tone - he has certainly done that the last 2 games)
Gomes - 0 (honestly)
DCL - 7 (worked well despite no service and scored)
Bernard - 4
Tosun - 2
Iwobi - 3

Carlo - minus numbers I'm afraid.
More realistic

Olsen 7
Kenny 4
Mina 2
Keane 3
N'Kounku 4
Delph 3
Sigurdsson 5
Allan 6
Doucoure 4
Gomes 2
DCL 6
Bernard 4
Tosun 3
Iwobi 5

Hi mate, what are your thoughts and hopes on proposed takeovers of NUFC, past, present and future?
Past - Mike Ashley blew it! He pi$$ed off mansoor et al so they went and bought man City instead!

Present - Richard Masters is bent! So frustrating after being so close. Not just because of the football but the investment into the city.

Future - God knows. We might be with Ashley until we are next relegated and he has to drop his asking price.

Real mixture of emotions right there!

Looks like the set up was to get width from the full backs which didn’t work as the reserves are not up to it (yet?) but personally don’t think Kenny is good enough.

The only other option Carlo didn’t try was Gordon for whatever reason.

Need to stop conceding asap but don’t think that can happen until we have somebody fit enough to replace Mina & get Seamus back

Gomes could do with a rest now. He moves like a cement mixer
He’s entering Sigurdsson territory for me now. Been absolutely dreadful for the majority of matches since he returned from injury. On his day he looks a lovely footballer, but those are few and far between now.

Dreadful performance today. Selection was mad but even then most of the players were dreadful. Hopefully James, Coleman and Digne back for Utd.

Kenny doesn’t look like a PL player whatsoever.

Hi lads... a geordie here. I had a little peek at this forum after the match to see your reaction after this game.

In my opinion you didnt want to win this game, until you went 2 nil down. Played the ball across your back 4 most of the first half with hardly any attacking intent. Obviously you didnt have some of your best players but I was bemused by the squad selection, with so many cm's.

Newcastle arent in a great way and are lacking in a few areas as well as bruceys tactics at times, but to come on here and listen to some of your comments.. you'd think yous had won the league for the last 10 years in a row".

I thought wow you have such high expectations, perhaps its because you have been so good this year? So i had a look...

1-0 win at spurs.. played well, deserved the win

5-2 win at west brom - went a goal down twice in first half, then west brom went to 10 men on 45mins.

2-1 win at Palace, winning goal with a penalty :)

4-2 win at brighton

2-2 draw with Liverpool. VAR! Say no more!

2-0 loss to southampton

2-1 loss to newcastle

So my point is, really good results vs spurs and brighton, but other than that.. hardly liverpool of last season!

I think you need to settle down as today was as comfortable a game as we have had in a long time.. we also missed 2 chances which would have been scored any other day!

Good luck for the season! I genuinely hope you do something in the league to break up the big six.. just a few sour fans on here are laughable! P.s. some of your fans want ancelotti to walk!!! If hes not there neither will james, allan etc!

Tbf had Richarlison, James, Digne, Coleman & Holgate been on the pitch you'll have gotten smashed.

I'm in a right spin at the moment in wondering whether to take some comfort from the fact we had three of our best players missing today contributing to the defeat, or being angry that at the first real time of asking, we regressed into the spineless team we all know and love.
I was one of many last week who had a feeling we'd get nothing from Soton. They are a good side. So given the RS result last night, I stupidly thought we'd make a bit of a statement and clamber back onto top spot. So here we go again, consistency non existant. Better pull a rabbit out the hat and beat Utd giving us a bit of respect back.

This is why I ain't too upset mate. You've just named 5 guaranteed 1st teamers there.

ANY club would miss 1 or 2 but 5.......it takes its toll.

For us to have any chance of top 4 (which we very much have a shout of) we simply can't afford too many injuries and we certainly can't afford players to be getting Sent off and picking up 3 game bans.

Try and pick up a result against Utd and then after that we'll have our players back and I expect us to be up and running.

We ain't just missing players, we are missing our very best players in James, Richarlison and Digne. Thats gonna hurt.

The most concerning thing is that we don’t seem to be able to win without Richarlison. I’m hoping that changes next week but won’t hold my breath.

Just another one of those weird "Everton" things isn't it lol

Even without Richarlison I don't think Ancelotti has done himself too many favours with his selections. But 3rd time lucky next week against the mancs!
