Simms is not going to be used unless we really are down to the last legs - that's the view of the club.

Tosun is being used as third-choice but he isn't fit.

Regardless, we needed a 'forward' - not particularly a CF. We needed a player to play in any of the three roles up front and give us a potent threat, even if not the same threat as Richarlison/James.

It's about mitigating risk in a season which has more risk due to fixture congestion (including daft international breaks of three games) and COVID.

We didn't mitigate that risk, and it could be seen a mile off.
I hear ya! But i think carlo has high wages targets an throwing money on something less than what the boss wants was prob not an option. Still think Simms will be given a shot hes huge as well worth a punt!

We should have kept Walcott, We're paying half his wages still so I'm not sure why we let him AND Kean go, I can understand the angle to let Kean go, He's already making headlines so it only adds onto his value if we're looking to sell in the summer. I think our hand might be forced into the January market for a loan or something.

The injury news allied to the idiotic suspensions we have inflicted on ourselves really makes this game a perfect example of how confident you REALLY are about our squad's ability to achieve this season.

I'll be honest, James covers a multitude for me. Richarlison and Digne join him in our top three. WIthout them, well, I have to admit I fully expect us to be beaten on Sunday. Am I being massively unfair to the others in the side? Hopefully, but 40 years of supporting Everton has taught me one thing: always expect the worst. Away defeat on Sunday and a very clear idea of where we stand. Maybe having zero confidence in the lads stepping up is a defense mechanism, but that's 40 years of scarring for ya.

Huge heads preview can be found here.

Come on lads. When it’s all said and done how great is it and exciting the implications of this match is? There a bit of doom and gloom but Jesus come Sunday we could be absolutely buzzing more than any season of the passed 30

Looks like all our play will be confined to that left hand side with Gordon (hopefully) & Nkounkou (Who I’m excited to see play).

That left side would get bums off seats.

Nkounkou destined for great things if he can carry on playing like he has done.........great buy.

Without our 3 best players and maybe even a proper right back, a point would be a good result. Can see us struggling to create anything at all, or being too exposed in defence if we try
