OK, lets just stick him in then. He has played very well further forward but done anything of note when tracking back as wing back (unless I missed it).
Maybe because he hasn’t had to...It’s tough to do something when there’s no opportunity to do it. You could be right btw, but there’s no way to know until he’s put in a position to actually show it.

Well he is very likely to be chucked in at LB this weekend so fingers crossed he is up to it. Newcastle will target him too.
I think they’ll still target our right side if I’m honest. Looks weaker defensively overall even if it’s Kenny back in, and their best player, St. Maximin, plays on their left side from what I’ve seen. I might consider going 3 at the back with a couple wing backs to limit their defensive responsibility...Maybe something like

————————Picks————————-
———Godfrey-—-Mina—-Keane————
Kenny—————Allan—————-Niels
———James——Doucs—Gomes————
————————Dom—————————-

Arguably our four most constant players

Why for me I would go 352 or 451 and pack out the defence/midfield to help Kenny/Nkounkou as we haven't the attacking threat on the pitch to outscore them.

Pickford

Keane Godfrey Mina

Kenny Doucoure Gomes Allan Nkounkou

Simms DCL

Have Nkounkou bursting forward with the midfield covering and Simms up top giving some space for Calvert Lewin to work with.

If we go 433 I doubt we'll win with those 4 out and 2 full backs who are inexperienced in a defence already leaking goals.

Be good experience for Simms aswell and will show if he is anywhere near ready yet for the senior squad.

I think we need the Niels/Gordon threat on the left as we lack any penetration otherwise.

Kevin Sheedy scores Everton’s third goal in their 4-0 win over Newcastle United in this League Division One match played at Goodison Park on the 12th January 1985.
