Even the terrible teams in the league have teams packed with pace and power in all positions. We don’t, we have a legacy of buying slow weak players Sigurdsson, Davies, Bernard, Iwobi, Tosun, are all too slow for premier league football. Allan and James don’t have a great amount of pace either but have the quality to make up for it. If you take Richarlison out though then the gaps start to appear as we just dont have that many quick players. Even the back 2 aren’t quick. It’s a huge problem for us. Any team that puts in a lot of effort and harries us will have a chance against us.

Mate will you stop. Steve Bruce could be reading.

Won’t see iwobi. He is done.
Hope so.
I just hope that Ancelotti doesn't put in half fit players because the alternative is Iwobi or Sigurdsson...or Gomes...or Bernard

And thats before we even discuss the 2 fullback spots.

Oh for those happy days when all we worried about was Lossl being crap compared to Pickford, who was blowing a bit hot and cold.

JJK fit for this one?
Niels in also?
If we’re struggling for CM, maybe go with 3 CB with Keane Mina and Godfrey
Gordon in the left, James on the right (if fit) Allan, Doucoure/Gomes and DCL?

Even with the loss at the weekend and the players that we'll have missing this Sunday, I'm still optimistic about this one and think that we'll have enough about our line up on the day to take the 3 points. While there are concerns with us defensively, they haven't kept a clean sheet since the first game of the season either and we've not had problems with creating chances and scoring against teams with similar defensive records.

Based on that, my line-up would be:

Pickford

Kenny (if fit) Kean Mina Nkounkou

Allan

Doucoure Gomes

James Gordon

DCL

Yep, Niels and Gord linked well in the cup so need to play.
If Kenny-lingus is fit that will make a huuuge difference defensively.
