ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

I think Aston Villa, and before them Watford did.

I am not sure if you are familiar with boxing, I watch a bit but one of the lads I work with is a big fan, and he always says once a heavyweight is knocked out, it makes a massive difference. To how he sees himself, and how others see him. He often cites Buster Douglas and Tyson, and Douglas went for it and showed Tyson was beatable. Once Hollyfield beat him the first time, it was easy the 2nd time and Tyson was not the same fighter.

The mystique kind of goes. I think sides can see, you can play through their press, and if you do, they are quite soft centred. I thought that on Saturday, even though we didn't dominate the game (and in a lot of facets we were dominated) we actually found chances quite easy to come by. Calvert Lewin had 3 shots on goal, plus miss kicked from 6 yards out. Richarlinson hits the post. James has a good effort from the outside of the box etc. All the chances were pretty easy to create, given the general lack of territory or possession.

I am surprised the comments have come out though. It is not the language of an invincible team who believe they are invincible. I'm really amazed they are thinking like that. On paper I still make them big favourites. But it's not what it sounds like from them at all.

I agree totally mate, teams are cottoning on to the press and realise there is massive space in behind. VVD injury takes some of the safety out of TAA and Roberston and i think teams are going to score more against them. Thats before you look at Allison. There midfild is functional at best. They have two world class players in Mane and Salah - two first time chances last week and they score. They really are good players. But not insurmountable and are aging, i wont be surprised to see either pick up niggling injuries as they now age and are flogged.

I think in lot of ways they were fortunate last season, Lapotes injury was hugely undermining and City were caught short at the back and their side became very unbalanced. I note Pep went out and dropped the guts of 150 mill on two centre backs. I fully expect City to roar back and be unbeatable and win the championship if im honest.

Momentum as we know is important in football, they have historically to their credit taken advantage of that, but i have a feeling all is not well there, the belief is shaken, the hunger has slackened the bodies have aged and they have picked up a key injury in a key position for a long time. I think they could begin to struggle and that air of invincibility in now in tatters - that said they have a few give me fixtures coming up. But they have already dropped key points, for a tile charge.

Nah, I hope he returns to his former health in a speedy and complete fashion. He is good, and it would be a shame that a player at 29 has to forego the best part of his career due to a reckless collision with a keeper. The over-reaction however is appalling and without wanting to sound like we're playing the victim card when we are the sinners as is their normal modus operandi, we need to be pro-active in nipping this nonsense in the bud.

I think most non-rs supporters aren't impressed with the challenges but also realise the reaction is over the top. Own the mistake and then let them pull at the scabs if they want but it will be showing them up for the ratbags they are.

Spot on

I also hope he returns as I do not like to see players injured.

Morning all, forgive if I am a little grouchy today, I couldn’t sleep last night, got up late for work, worrying sick about that poor stricken millionaire, but what made it worse was those other non-arrogant or non-self entitled millionaires who play with him struggling to sleep. YNWA VVD YMCA

Thinking of you in this tough time wat. Hope you can sleep tonight.

God forbid if ajax injures one of their players tonight. If that happens I'll be thinking of you as i know you won't be getting much sleep.

it goes deeper. He was in a picture hanging out with VD. Where’s the apology Dike? This is

Only if the club are funny and trolling in nature. Otherwise we are just going to be dragged into the garbage. We don’t have to defend anything. But we can mock and rip the pish. Dono if the club has the balls. Can’t see answering to it and trying to be rational and say we didn’t mean harm etc etc. Think that’ll only feed into it.
Personally I think our fans are holding their own on twitter. They are asking questions and not getting the answers because the answers don't fit the narrative.

Have a look at the twitter feed for this Andy Hunter article. I'd estimate 90% of the responses are from Blues and there are loads of examples of RS atrocities in derbies and bad tackles from VVD. I didn't reaise it was a VVD challenge that led to Deulofeu being out since February. The Keith Hackett twitter account was the same yesterday, full of Blues.

I think the club just need to remain stoical at this stage and let the fans be their mouthpiece. Other clubs fans are getting just as sick of this as we are. Ultimately the RS media will realise that nobody is arsed and the rhetoric will stop.

It's interesting that the Hunter piece is not accompanied by any personal comments or views. He has literally just repeated the comments from the press conference verbatim. That's unusual. I reckon he was under orders from his editor not to go against the narrative, so he simply said nothing. Ultimately the narrative will change and I reckon once one reporter/paper comes out and says enough is enough, others will follow.

But I said it yesterday and I think it's worthwhile saying again. The twitter blues are out in force defending our club and it's absolutely great to see.

Yes I agree with all of that. If you re a City player now, and you're hearing the entire team and manager are crying themselves to sleep, you suddenly feel a lot better about yourself. Bear in mind City have lost the far better player KDB and there is no such response.

I thought Liverpool played really well on Saturday to be honest, as I expected they would, but what has followed has been really bizarre. They've briefed their friendly journalists to keep making a big point of it. What does it say for Matip and Gomez that this is the response to them having to play?

It all went wrong very quickly for Klopp at Dortmund, around the 5th season. A cocktail of sides working him out, ageing players and the inevitable injuries as a result of his system and lack of rotation/forward planning game to pass. If Liverpool were to fall it would be from a much more secure position and higher height but a similar situation may occur. He plays high risk football, which would lead itself to going quite out of control quite quickly.

I wonder how many of their players just thought they'd annihilate the league again? Whether some of them have maybe got the hunger for a long hard fight again? Whether some of them, approaching 30 want a big contract, with slightly easier demands elsewhere. Salah or Mane could go somene else, be the centre piece of the team, not have to do the running and have the team built around them.

Ajax feels a bit big for them. Ajax are very much in a transition so should be an easy win, but I have a suspicion it may prove a bit more complex than that.

Would love someone to ring talksport and tell them they should be more concerned over their darling LFC ending English football as we know it with this super league nonsense than crying about a collision on a football pitch.

Absolute tossers and I hope EFC start blacklisting certain journo's and outlets from the club - would soon keep them quiet.
