@davek You're a stalwart on this forum. And I'll always have time for you and your views. But seriously, go put Spirit of the Blues on repeat, have a dance around the living room. Enjoy this moment, we haven't had nearly enough of them recently. The derby is ages away, let's just take one game at a time.

Anyway, rest Allen for the Brighton game for me. Concentrate on getting him fit and ready go for after the international break. No sense risking a more serious injury. He will be far too important to us this season to be facing months out.

I'm enjoying watching Everton play football for the first time in about 7 years and Davek can't even let me have that
and his is very much small team mentality. I DONT CARE IF WE LOSE ALL THE OTHER GAMES AND FINISH SEASON 11TH, JUST BEAT THE RS. As if our elite level players will be happy with that kind of mindset. We desperately need CL football. We also should beat the hell out of RS, mind.

Absolutely. I would love to see us beat the RS just as much as anyone, but not at the expense of a trophy or a genuine run at the Champions League spots. I don't know if that's achievable just yet, but we should be trying to win every single game as they come, one at a time

Proper random bit of digging and may not tell us much but...

On 19/02/2017, Allan was forced off with a groin strain for Napoli:

He missed the next couple of games but was on the bench for their game against Roma on 04/03/17 (13 days later) and then started the game after that on 07/03/17.

The derby is 17 days away.

Good work, the imaging or scans will be done today, Carlo hinted at a slight abductor problem which if true should give him a decent chance of making it back by the derby.

But had we lost and then West Ham drew Newcastle at home you'd be moaning we blew a great chance of winning a trophy by playing a weakened side. Can't win either way with Captain Negative.
I honestly dont care mate. We've done brilliantly so far. Im happy about that. But does it matter and will this season mean anything? No. Not at all.

I just care about doing well in the derby. As far as Im concerned they can shut the season down after that.

Does the club have their own scans which they do on the day or do the players go to like a private facility for them and the results sent back to the club?

Rest our better players for the derby. What a load of nonsense. If we had rested our better players we would have been knocked out of the league cup by Salford. And we would be sitting with no points.......or maybe just one or two at best.
You see our second string are mainly useless. Remember our slow backwards passing(and they didn't even do that well) midfield.
Our useless defence that defended set pieces like a set of four wheely bins would. And our forward line starved of service. Walcott playing like a headless chicken. Kean not really interested. Davies wandering aimlessly looking for the football. And then losing it.... Besic? Bolaise?
The invisible man.....Siggy. Delph.......injured counting his money.
That lot couldn't beat snow of a rope.
So no more jesting Davek ( say after me). I will jest no more about my beloved Everton. No more.....forever...... Good well done.
Now let's see who plays against Brighton. Beat them. And it's a great start to the season. Imo bring i'd bring in Delph and Gordon if Allen and Richarlson don't play. Docoure and Gomes should be ok in the middle of the park. And lets see what Gordon can do........he's due a goal and a performance.
The rest of the team picks its self. And a few more goals for DC L would be great.
So no more nonsense Davek. Get with the programme. For the hundredth time today........Injuries happen........@@## Happens. It's now all about how we react. Le Proffessor will have a plan. Up The Toffees....

This small minded view invalidates many of your other (occasionally) interesting counterpoints.
Give it a rest Dave FFS.

Remember a couple of years ago, going out on penalties in this competition, at Goodison, to Southampton.

Silva started a team full of backups and got killed because "he doesn't get the fans, he doesn't get the culture, he doesn't get the team, we've never won this cup, we need silverware"

Can't win for losing.
