I’m making stuff lol you need to go back and read what you’ve put.
So they play different positions, I’m thinking you think Allan is a defensive midfielder and Gana was more box to box. but Gana is better defensively

Allan has played the anchor role, because we have nobody else. But really he’s very similar to Gana probably 70% defensive and 30% Attacking, obviously he doesn’t get many goals or assists but he does like to get up and down.

Gana had Barry behind him in his first season, then koeman bought Schneiderlin to play that role and Gana was left to get after the opposition. Maybe liability was a bit harsh, but the reason he counldnt be trusted to play the anchor role was because of his technical failings. You even say so yourself.

but look at him from a passing point of view, he was very average. Probably got 2/3 assists in 3 years. Gana was a good player and great at a few things. But Allan is a class above

There's still times when I miss Gana's pace over 10 yards. Allan - you can tell he's still learning in this league in that regard.

It's not happened often but there's been the odd time when he's dived in or got a bit too tight and a player has not got round him, but he's had to commit a foul or whatever. That's fine, he does it in mostly the right places. I'm just used to the last player we had in the mould - Gana - being able to nip in and win those balls.

Anyway, they're different types of players. I love Gana and think he was superb at what he did. Allan is an excellent player and definitely more of a controller in the midfield than Gana is.

You were never Gana's biggest fan, I know. End of the day he did go on to help a team get to the Champions League final.

Neither Allan or Gana are about assists. I'd be surprised if Allan gets 2-3 assists this season let's put it that way. But his passing is excellent.

I agree with what you're saying about Allan not being a 'natural' 6. I think we saw that v WBA when the entire midfield got caught upfield.

It'll be interesting when Gbamin comes back to see if we can play Allan in a more advanced role (alternate with Gomes/Doucoure etc) in certain situations.

Ghana has more to do because for the majority of his Everton career he didn’t have the same quality around him. But this isn’t dishing Allen. We are scratching the surface. There is a lot more to come from this lad. How we signed him for 21million is beyond me.
 

Find his passing to be rather average, along with Doucure neither of them seem to be able to consistently pass the ball between the lines. For a holding midfielder, that's the money pass. He keeps it well and all and defensively he's obviously brilliant plus he organise the troops really well. However our no10 is pretty much starved of service in the 'hole'. That can be compensated by a great creator in midfield but Gomes isn't that.
 

Why are we going on about the passing lines and chemistry between our new MF who have played 3 games together, give it time.

Players need to get to know the runs and positioning of their new team mates so it becomes second nature.
 
Played well in every game, still this thread is somehow sliding into negativity even if its only a few people pointing out negatives.
starting to think there might be something to this ‘Everton playing better without fans in the stadium’-stuff

Not their job tbh, it is gomes' job, however, like you say, he's not really that. It's why i think for certain games we would be better with bernard or siggurdsson there, maybe even james if we get a really good winger in. But i think games like vs the top 6, gomes is the perfect player for that.
