Don't believe all you read in the press cos it then says Spurs are going to be able to pay Bale a massive £300k a week (I read a 1/3 sod expending on what rag you believe that would mean his on 900k) and although Spurs ain't got the money for a £28million striker, papers today are also saying that Spurs are just about to spend £28 million on yet another Real Madrid reject?

I'd hate Everton to do one of these judging by what I've seen in the first few episodes.

Tiz a puzzler even so.

Its beyond doubt that Spurs are/were very reliant on match day income, well, more so than many other clubs, and have had to cancel heavens only knows how many concerts and NFL games down to the Rona.

They wanted to furlough staff, and the have taken that £175m loan, (which is repayable in 8 months). Now that may well be sensible business, (low interest, get tax payers to pay their staff), or maybe not.

Then there is the not inconsiderable debt that will have to be serviced, come what may.

All good points that I fully agree with Roydo (except that taxpayers didn't pay for Spurs staff) but when Everton finally start building the new Stadium you could also be in the same posistion?

The loan. Someone worked out on here that the interest was only £1 million so as it was for cash flow, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be a problem to pay back but if the horrible virus was to come back again, then God knows how Spurs would cope, (in fact, how 99% of all the clubs would cope?)

Edit; I'm pretty sure the main stadium debts was around £23 million a year for 25 years, it wasn't a problem with paying supporters but if......??

We could well be, and I am sure you are familier with the narrative re the long game in play there. Might be a load of rubbish, but when a few of us mused about it 4 years ago, every single thing we thought might happen, have.

But yeah, ultimately, its the virus that will dictate for now; hopefully not for ever though.

We’ve already got USM paying £30m to jump the the front of a non-existent naming rights queue. I’m sure whatever they’re willing to pay us p/a for the naming rights will cover a large part of our stadium debt.

I know the narrative alright and I'm pretty certain that it's true so yes, the new stadium could well be "paid for" no problem.
I also think that the amount "skint" Everton have spent over the last few years also proves this to be true.

Quite. Maybe Moshiri is either insane, stupid, or very very very benevolent in blowing a significant % of his cash for not a lot in return. (We are most likely paying a portion of the Barcelona managers salary ffs).

How can you say don’t believe what you read in the press whilst simultaneously choosing to select a report that suggests a 30% Spurs contribution to his wages, that you’ve patently got from the press?

You’ve merely selected the report that you like and are running with it.

Personally I don’t see how a 70% subsidy by RM is ever going to be deemed acceptable.

I also have no idea how Spurs and Madrid would work out what's acceptable but if they want him out before the end of the contract they will have to find an agreement with a team who wants him and just as importantly, a team he would be happy to join. Is that team Spurs? I wouldn't lol .
