Barnfred 55
Player Valuation: £80m
I'm not either. But I think we do need a Zaha type player. i.e a pacey winger/wide forward.Problem is Grealish has just signed a new contract so would cost loads. Not sure I want Zaha here either.

Why??? That baffles me.. although the lad does sound thick, I’m amazed he doesn’t want out of Villa as they be going down this yearProblem is Grealish has just signed a new contract so would cost loads. Not sure I want Zaha here either.
Yes, the only option we have at the moment is Walcott and his end product is terrible.I'm not either. But I think we do need a Zaha type player. i.e a pacey winger/wide forward.
Hes playing for his boyhood club. Its his home. He's actually showing loyalty which is rare these days. Why??? That baffles me.. although the lad does sound thick, I’m amazed he doesn’t want out of Villa as they be going down this year
Oh yh makes sense didn’t think about any of thatIf we do a swap we still have to put a value on the players we swap.
And we don't care about Palaces add on, but we do care about our accounts looking good so there's nothing to motivate us to put low values.
I mean maybe we put Zaha as low as well, I dunno.
Seems unlikely.
The new contract means nothing apart from guaranteeing Villa a high price if they do sell him. He's got himself a nice juicy pay rise and in return Villa have the security of knowing they won't be fleeced by a bigger club due to him now having 5 years left on his deal. Why??? I get that but when they go down, he want to move but the club will want stupid stupid money and he end up in the championship next yearHes playing for his boyhood club. Its his home. He's actually showing loyalty which is rare these days.
Reminds me of Zaha signing a new contract at CP and now he is stuckThe new contract means nothing apart from guaranteeing Villa a high price if they do sell him. And if he keeps them up club is happy and so is the player. Can't fault him really. He's showing more loyalty than Zaha.I get that but when they go down, he want to move but the club will want stupid stupid money and he end up in the championship next year

No bids for him. Club asking 80million for him, they need to pay him a salary worthy of player that value - £150k a week to stay. He would be foolish to say no. I would imagine he has negotiated a release clause too. Basically, if he plays well he leaves next year anyway. Will play every week for villa and should make the Euro squad. Why??? I disagree mate. It depends on the type of player. You get a clever footballer in a crap team who aren't on the same wavelength, then he's looking around for players who aren't making runs, putting balls into area's where he's expecting players to be, losing possession when he hangs on to the ball too long because there's nobody to pass to, and making runs that aren't seen by his teammates. Take somebody like Firmino out of Liverpool and stick him in West Brom, and he'd probably be something like 30% of the player.I personally think any idea if a player performing better with better quality around them is a fallacy. As a supposedly good player, you should be able to perform or performances should stand out compared to the rest of the lesser players so to speak. I just don't think Bernard can cut the mustard.
I agree with you, but I think we won't see any more additions until the last week of the window now. I think who we sell or loan out will determine what the new incomings will be and whether they are loans or purchases. If we can afford him..get him but lets get someone in like him ...the quicker we do, the more options we have because teams will try to nullify our singular threats.. quickly.

Now a player like Zaha would probably fit your profile and would look outstanding in a poor team. But Bernard is the type who thrives on having other quality around him. I'm not saying he's going to become world class overnight, but he could become a very effective squad player to come off the bench.
