Think Howard is a great keeper and the best we have had for a few years for me-so what he makes a few mistakes that cost us but also makes some brilliant saves that save us just like most keepers do :D

Pretty much this. In the past few games there have been a couple of occasions where Howard has made the wrong choice when it comes to staying on the line or not. Yesterday was a prime example when Heitinga and Baines crashed into each other after realising Howard wasn't going to pick the ball out of the air when he should have.

However, his reflexes and agility are fantastic assets, the Argentina video is a perfect example of that, and he's saved us plenty of times due to this. It's a hell of a lot easier to build on the tactical side with time than it is to improve natural reflexes and athleticism.

Nothing against the guy at all mate - he says all the right things, seems like a good sort to have around the lads, but i really dont think hes Prem quality - maybe at a Wigan or somewhere of that level, certainly not Everton quality, in fact i think he costs us about 10-15 points a season and hope for the best in the cups.

I hear that "other positions" need more attention all the time, not for me - Howard is a drain for me - i know thats not popular, but that doesnt mean its not acurate.
 
I'm somewhere in the middle really. Have to agree with Neiler on Reina vs Howard, Reina is easily better - I can't think of any aspect of keeping that Howard is better at. At the same time, Howard is definitely better than Wigan, he's about our level. A quality keeper with some great attributes but also some serious flaws, that's what you generally find outside the top clubs.

Fair enough, I just wonder how many times we'll be having this discussion in the future. I'm perfectly happy with Howard and meant every word I said about him in the past. He's top class for me.

Some crazy statements there, mate. Not premier league quality? There's a difference between not rating a player, and having a vendetta against them.

And even this season, with all the blunders he's made, he's cost us no more than 6 points. How you calculate 10-15 points is beyond me. What about the points he gains us, as well? The 3-3 draw with united this season, for example. We'd never have been able to get back into that if he'd not kept us in it.

He has had a poor season this year (at least in the first half of it, anyway), so I won't defend that, but your estimation of him borders on the ridiculous.
 
Howard is a great keeper, event though he was poor early on this season he is still one of the best keepers in the prem. He is in the top 3 or 4 keepers in the Prem, I rate him at least on a par with Reina. Wigan...ha!

Well that it mate, its all about opinions, lets be honest, do we fear looseing him the same way as we do other "wolrd class" stars in our team, most are content with him because we are skint and we want more forwards and wingers then keepers. For me its vital we get a new keeper, like i say i think he costs us about 10 points a season. His feilding is poor, his decision making is poor, his physical pressence is poor, his communcation is poor, he can be beaten easily at difficult angles, he comes when he should stay and vice -versa, other teams mark him out as a weak link and put a man on him at set peices, he flaps, hes a good shot stopper on form - that why i mention teams like Wigan, he would do well at teams like that - not Everton quality for me - especially when you consider the calibre of keeper we are used to.

Howard is in the top half of keepers in the prem, but not in the top 6, bit like everton really. He is also a highly respected international and ambassador type for us over in the states. People have short memories, richard wright, thomas mhyre.... We as a team have other needs and would consider keeper one of our lesser needs behind foward, right back and cover at left back. But yeah everyone has there right to there own view...
