At the end of the day, it is just a glorified friendly.
But it's also the curtain-raiser to the season with a trophy for the winners.
I was always over the moon to start the season with a charity shield win back in the day.
A great tradition that should be taken more seriously in my opinion and there was nothing wrong in it being shared in the event of a draw.

Amazing, the (charity) community shield is meaningless to capitalist pigs FC and its awful fanbase. A game that generates revenue for various charitable initiatives and the champagne socialists don't want to be involved unless they win it. I am jack's complete lack of surprise.
