His profile isn’t as big here in the U.K. but based on his social media following etc he must be massively famous in South America and elsewhere. I think in terms of raising our profile globally it will be the biggest signing the club has made to date. Kanchelskis was a top class player but James, I would say, is way more famous in the conventional sense.

I know he’s naturally a central attacking midfielder but Carlo often used him on the right and he’s effective from that flank, what are people’s thoughts? If he comes here what’s his main position going to be (assuming we get Allan and Doucourè)

I think Carlo played him on the right because he wasn’t working with absolute deadbeats at Madrid and Bayern and had genuine options in the centre. For me he will play central and rightly so.

He could play 5 games per season for us and still be our player of the season. He's worth it.
