Id be punting Gomes for a reasonable offer.

If it was me id go for a hard running hard tackling monster in there alongside Allan.

Sick of teams running past Gomes.
Players sometimes pick up fro those around them. With a more energetic midfielder alongside him I’m sure he would be better himself.
He had played. Lot better for us than in recent games. I’m sure as he gets over the injury his form will return.

We have at least 4 CM I'd be getting rid of before Gomes.

Gomes is so wildly inconsistent its bizarre. One game hes brilliant and the next handful hes average at best.

Any half decent offers come in for any of our centre midfielders and i hope we accept them. We really need to rebuild it from scratch.

I'll admit I was suckered back in after the Sheffield game. His inconsistency is maddening but he is another who was simply not in shape to play after the restart. He looked absolutely destroyed in some of those games. We should keep Gomes, add Allan plus a third. Siggurdsson, Delph and Davies should absolutely go first.

We used to have one of the best tackling, hardest working, best foil for Gomes midfielders in the league and you wanted him sold.

I don't think anyone wanted him sold for what we got, but given his contract situation it had to happen. We can't fend off interest from a club like that if the player wants to go and can leave on a free if we wait.

Thats fair, but we currently need someone mature and strong in CM, we have noone. Rolling the dice again could be worth it, or it could end in failure. Right now i think getting in someone like Allan to give our midfield a little more umph is the right thing to do. We have enough young players to sell on for giant fees if thats the only thing we’re going for. Id rather have a team made up of some young diamonds in the rough and some hardened pros. Its something we lack, and its obvious.
I don't think anyone would suggest having a blend of youth/experience is a bad thing, but rather when you look at our midfield options objectively we have a bunch of crocks and ageing players on big wages - adding more players of either category seems risky in the long term (even if Allan is better than what we have) .

If we had already trimmed the squad of those types of players sufficiently I'd assume you'd see less people raising their eyebrows.

Hes like Besic without the injuries, but my biggest fear is that he thinks he's proper solid and then Mark Noble cracks his ankle and he's off back to Italy on the first ryan air.
I've become resigned to the idea that any big money signings we make we be injured in someway or another recently lol

Suitcases on bed, Jet on tarmac fully fuelled, great history and tradition speech prepared.

He's basically ours, he's clearly read the welcome to Everton starter pack.
