You'd think they'd have to get rid of a centre back if they want to buy one. Players like jones are crap, but they're on way too higher wages to be 5th/6th choice. You'd think all of their centre backs are on 60k a week plus. Smalling, jones and rojo, as well as bailly, lindelof and maguire who'll probably be on more.


Jeez, the more i wrote that post, the more centre backs i realised they had, would literally take none of them here, not even maguire.

Well, I know they've out-priced Roma for Smalling. That's why he's returning from a relatively successful loan. Furthermore, I personally doubt Jones or Rojo have any suitors. That means they are stuck with at least 2 CBs they don't want. As for Bailly, is he ever fit? Make that 3/4 useless to them and even potential suitors.

They do need back up for Maguire and Lindelof, then, but considering the majority of their budget will be going towards any potential Sancho deal I don't think we should be worrying about United right now. That said, if they manage to get their inflated fee for Smalling then perhaps we should start sweating. So, in short, I think any Gabriel to United deal rests on them selling Smalling first.

Yeah this. Gabriel isn't getting in ahead of Maguire who they paid so much for, so would have to compete with Bailly and Lindelof both of which are quite decent imo.
United fans say the guy qouted a couple pages back is 'tier 1 reliability' but it doesn't make sense to me. Think its the Mina saga again.
