Im just a bit concerned given his age and the time it normally takes players to adapt.

Players are playing longer now. He could easily have 4 years at a top level.

I think £38mil is wide of the mark though. My guess is that weve offered £20-25mil with clauses up to £33mil.

He WAS a top class player 2 or 3 seasons back when i watched him a fair bit.

Id see him as a box to box player but also someone who could be an anchor in a couple of seasons as he slows down.

Yaya Toure also in that bracket. Everyone thought he was just a Barca reject and useless. He did pretty well as I recall!

We find one and people are worried about his age. He’s only 29 and footballers are fitter than ever. Least four years in him and if he slows down then he moves into an Anchor role rather than a pressing midfielder

CA knows better than all of us. If he wants Allan, then you should back it.

But the manager, assistant manager and conditioning coach were working with Allen until December. So he should be a known quantity.

Well unless he's had a serious injury or his physical potential has absolutely dropped off a cliff, that's not so long ago.

It's as low risk as you're going to get in that scenario, I would suggest.

I'm not saying there isn't any risk. I'm saying that in so far as knowing what issues you're inheriting on a player approaching 30, Allan is as low risk as you can get.
