Leicester City is a yo-yo club that won a title two seasons removed from the Championship. Granted, they paid next to nothing for Mahrez, Vardy and Kante, so that's the kind of scouting value you would need to generate to replicate the accomplishment.

Between transfer mismanagement and COVID-related revenue contraction, I'd say that we're at least two years away even if we find that many diamonds in the rough. DCL looks like he might turn out to be one, but there are a lot of holes to fill in the squad and not a lot of funds to do it with unless there is an FFP amnesty.

Well things can come out of the blue, I doubt we would have said we would win a title anytime soon in 1983. That said I never underestimate our ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of glory. Technically we should have been right up there with Martinez and a fairly stable team when Leicester won it. 2 seasons prior we got enough points to finish second that season. Unfortunately it will be rare that all the big teams falter and a low-ish tally is required so we could be stuffed for a good while longer.
