ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

No it's not just you Pilks.
I did a double take the first time I saw somebody 'take the knee' to show support for a man killed in the manner he was.
But there's no way anybody at the cesspit would make such an obvious connection is there?
Just keep in my that not all gobshites are kopites, but ALL kopites are gobshites.

OK, I'm assuming you're white. Have you spoken to a person of colour or done 1/10th of a minutes research into the reason behind taking a knee.

Have a go at the RS for most things, but using this against them is pretty distasteful in my mind. They didn't come up with the protest. It's been used for years before the Minneapolis police murdered George Floyd. If you can't see past that, then I guess there's nothing they can do that you'd even not comment on and would be as well off just ignoring everything in the media related to them

Translation into English anyone?

I think a token gesture by any club, whilst they may be well intentioned, doesn't send a meaningful message. I lean to the side of thinking that it was a PR stunt, much in the same way tweeting anfield with NHS on the pitch was, days after shamelessly reversing their decision to not furlough staff. The timing couldn't have been more cynical. Ergo, they're not averse to it so can understand why the conclusion is drawn in my opinion.

I've listened to Darren Lewis talk about token gestures an stunts by clubs an business and there's been articles about it too (the guardian has one such article on the subject)- the message being a tweet isn't enough... Darren Lewis said how football and society has been here before and that it's action that is needed in a discussion on talksport about it. So 'people of colour' don't all agree with what Liverpool did, it does very little to help the cause unless it's followed up and leads to change. Action from all clubs would have a long term an meaningful impact rather than a pic to garner some twitter likes and media praise.

So why has the NHS SIGN dissappeard as they don't need the pitch for anything lately.

That's perfectly understandable and a legitimate criticism in my eyes. What is a little odd is linking the act of taking a knee by anyone as some kind of weird gesture to the murder of George Floyd which was my point.

Obviously that makes me a kopite in some people's eyes seemingly judging by the "reaction score". Presumably that matters to five year old kids o_O
