Former Everton Centre Forward Duncan Ferguson steps into management.....

FURTHER INJURY NEWS

When you think it couldn't get any worse for Fylde this week. Goalkeeper Tom Hadler is now reported to be out with a calf injury for two months and promising left back David Chester is also out for around the same length of time with a thigh injury. With seven fixtures coming up in October, Fylde really cannot afford any more injuries or suspensions.
Questions need to be asked about the fitness coach.

AFC Fylde vs Forest Green Rovers
26th September 2026

=Forest green result.webp

Fylde suffered their first defeat of the season in their last outing against rivals Sutton United and were looking for a response. Harry Wright started in goal replacing the injured Tom Hadler and his first real test came on 30 minutes when Walters whipped the ball into the box, Feeney cleared with the header, Stafford took the ball on his chest outside the box, progressed forward and placed the ball into the bottom corner to put Forest Green in front. Forest Green held their lead and were playing quite well away from home. Fylde were unable to get a foothold in the game and this forced Ferguson to make some changes. Tyrone O'Neill and Christian Hutson both came on to partner Paul Townsend up front. It seemed Forest Green were on the verge to pile the misery on Fylde but Okoroji put in a last ditch tackle, won the ball back and launched it forward for Tyrone O'Neill who chased the ball down the right flank, O'Neill crossed but the ball was cleared. Lamptey came forward in support with Okoroji on the left and pushed Forest Green back, Okoroji got the ball in space and crossed towards O'Neill who headed but the keeper saved it initially palming it into the side of his net gifting Fylde the equaliser with only minutes remaining. There was seconds left on the clock when Lamptey received the ball on the right wing, crossed into the box and the rising head of Townsend met the ball but he couldn't get enough power to beat the keeper who clutched at the ball.

Harrogate Town vs AFC Fylde
3rd October 2026

=harrogate result.webp

BT Sport hosted today's fixture in the 12:15 kick off and Ferguson instructed his side to put in a good performance live on television to show the rest of the country what Fylde have in their arsenal. However that message did not seem to be reciprocated by the players and Harrogate took the lead after 17 minutes when Okereke headed the ball past Wright from 4 yards out, managing to remain unmarked inside the penalty area. Fylde were trying to press Harrogate and win possession but the game plan was not working and Harrogate were creating chances early on in the first half. Fylde came forward with Okoroji allowed the space down the left, he crossed into the box low for O'Neill and he should have done much better with the finish, it was a good sign of intent with three attacking players inside the box to receive the ball. Harrogate puhed forward down the right in a game that was end to end, Mick Wisdom made the tackle but Okereke picked up on the loose ball, Feeney tailed him but Okereke was much quicker, Harry Wright was there to get down to save from a close range shot. Ferguson gave 18 year old Lee Lofthouse 15 minutes to make a difference but the local Fylde lad could not get into the game. The points today going to Harrogate.

BT Sport interviewed Ryan Croasdale on the pitch:
RC: The lads are gutted, it's three games without a win, we never took any of our chances and Harrogate were the better team on the pitch. We have to keep the lads going, there's no let-up in a season like this and we've got to dig deep for that spirit that saw us playing out of our skin earlier this season. The lads have got the ability and we all know our roles, its unfortunate but we have to turn this tide before it becomes a bigger problem.

AFC Fylde vs Dagenham & Redbridge
6th October 2026

=DAG and Red result.webp

Alex Cull is in his 8th season at Fylde after his release from Southampton in 2019 and was set to make only his second appearance in between the sticks. Sutton United and Tranmere Rovers were closing the gap on Fylde after their failure to win in the last three games and now Dagenham had the chance to take further points away from Fylde. The Coasters started quickly and after 30 seconds won a free-kick outside the box, Ryan East curled it towards the top left corner but it drifted wide into the stands. Dagenham played the ball forward but Wright-Phillips was back in support and won the ball for McGavin, McGavin gave it back to Wright-Phillips to come forward on 15 minutes, the winger used his pace to get down the flank and sent in an early cross from mid-way in the opposition half, Townsend timed his jump and headed the ball into the bottom corner but the keeper should have done much better after getting a hand to it, Fylde with a well deserved lead. Ten minutes later and MacDonald clears the danger getting it forward to Townsend as the lone striker but there was no support for the flick on. Fylde pressed the defenders and Townsend won the ball back from Mola who was careless in possession, got one on one with the keeper put put it wide! An unbelievable miss! Fylde kept coming at Dagenham this time Wright-Phillips crossing for O'Neill who headed the ball just over the bar. Fylde at this point in the game should be coasting with the points looking secure but on 33 minutes Dagenham crossed in from the free-kick 35 yards out, Corbett broke away from MacDonald and headed past Alex Cull to equalise. The whole Fylde team stopped looking for the offside but Corbett timed his run to perfection. Ferguson was furious with his team leading into the remaining minutes of the half giving possession away in midfield too easily, Abrahams took the ball down beautifully on his left foot, with MacDonald battling to win the ball back, Abrahams hit sweetly with his left foot into the top left corner giving Cull no chance. The worst time for Fylde to go down 2-1 minutes before half-time. Fylde had a chance to equalise with a free-kick 20 yards out and East forced a good save from the keeper, Garrett followed in but his shot was blocked and cleared away. Fylde kept the ball in the final third and it looked like the equaliser was coming, Henderson was found in space, broke into the area but he put his shot right over the bar. The best chance came from Ryan East's free kick on 89 minutes, crossed to the far post, Townsend won the header but the keeper got down to save! How on earth did the keeper keep that one out? Dagenham were grateful for the final whistle and Fylde played well second half but just could not score.

DF: The lads done what I asked of them and all credit to Dagenham for holding on like they did. We pressed, won the ball back and kept it in their half, we were very unlucky not to score and it was frustrating for all of us here, I urge the fans to stick with us and I hope they can see the positives from that second half. Sometimes football just doesn't go the way you want it to and we could still be trying to score all week. I thought Alex done well out there, he stepped in when needed, it was up to us to put the ball away at the other end and we failed. There is some good news and we are close to signing a new goalkeeper in the coming days.

With the current goalkeeping crisis, Ferguson spoke to his chairman and got the green light to bring in a new goalkeeper. Neil Foster, 22 years old was released by Sheffield Wednesday in the summer after spending last season playing for League One's Oldham who were promoted to the Championship with Foster between the posts. The goalkeeper had loan spells with Carlisle and Yeovil at League Two level earlier in his career however Sheffield Wednesday had Sergio Padt with the number one jersey and Foster wanted to make is own career but failed to find a club in the summer. The Fylde fans are believed to be excited at the new signing and this gives Tom Hadler stiff competition.

Blackpool vs AFC Fylde
10th October 2026

=BLACKPOOL RESULT.webp

As expected Neil Foster was given his debut and it came in the away derby against Blackpool. The last time Blackpool beat Fylde was in the play-off first round in 2024/25 with a 1-0 victory and the goal scorer on that day was Paul Townsend who was on loan at Blackpool at that time. The rain poured down at Bloomfield road and the fans were becoming frustrated with the lack of chances, it came on 41 minutes when Wright-Phillips received Ferguson's pass in the box, got the ball onto his left and curled it round the defence into the top corner giving the keeper no chance. Midfielder Norman was playing well for Blackpool and four minutes after the restart he took a shot from just outside the box and it curled into the bottom corner, Foster was close but he didn't see it until late through the crowd of bodies. Now at 1-1 the game erupted to a fast tempo. Blackpool's corner cleared on 52 minutes by Feeney, Ferguson picked up the ball and brought it into the Blackpool half, Wisdom took it from Ferguson, McGavin over to Wright-Phillips who was doubled up on, he got the cross in to Townsend and his header was tipped over the bar, great save. Fylde were putting the defence under pressure, long balls forward for the front line to chase in the last ten minutes but Blackpool held firm. Fylde were looking the favourites out of the two to grab the winner but Blackpool more than happy to ride this out. The game came to an end with a point apiece in the latest Lancashire derby.

Josh Ferguson picked up an injury which will keep him out for the next 2 weeks.
