Yes I mean we are splitting hair and I think both are unfair. I suppose the counter might be, being judged across the points you'd had within a regular season and rules is far fairer than giving equal waiting to what amounts to an end of season circus.
I don't think it's splitting hairs. I don't see it as even close to be honest. If the games get played then a team in the relegation zone has the opportunity to get out of it. It might not be the same chance as they would have had, but it's a chance nonetheless. Using PPG removes the opportunity of getting out of the relegation zone, and condemns a team to relegation when they should have had 9/10 more games to get out of trouble. It's much, much, worse in my opinion. Imagine going out and spending £20m on a striker to get you the goals to get out of the relegation zone and then finding that you're just going to be arbitrarily cut from the league without them having the chance to make an impact.

The season should be called off and voided, anything else is unfair, but there are still levels of unfairness.

Yes I think they are probably closer than you, but you make some good points. What I'd also add, is that PPG isn't this magic bullet to fix everything. There are multiple different models that exist. Some just take the raw data, others can factor in home and away PPG and extrapolate out. Others will award extra weighting for future home/away games. You can also weight as well or instead of this with difficulty of opponents gone and difficulty of opponents to come. There are then discussions about how you define difficulty, form, seasons performance or previous seasons performance. It is just a rabbit hole that those throwing it about don't seem to appreciate.

You can also guarantee with the sides at the bottom, each of them is going to have a different interpretation of the events that will be favourable to them. In a court of law, could you honestly defend the notion that home/away games shouldn't be taken into account? Or difficulty of opponent etc etc. You'd look very stupid trying to attempt that.

I think by "maintain the integrity" they mean "drag the season over the line so that Liverpool can get their title".
Well they kind of have to in a way. If they stop things now and just give the RS the title before they have actually won it, then the PL have broken their own league rules and the competition as it stands is a complete farce and would cease to exist in the future They would have to create something new with a new set of rules. It's damage limitation at the moment as they are worried if they don't complete the league then certain individuals in the media will no doubt be on the case whinging like demented 2 year olds moaning about the PL and they won't want damage to the PL brand.

I don't think it would be nominal mate. Sky have paid an absolute fortune for domestic rights which are exclusive. Why are they just handing them over?

To broker a deal for the government to push ahead and back the restart.

It will only be for the completion of this season. It will be their coverage and free advertising on a national level of that coverage.

We live in strange times but don't be surprised if these games are shown on terrestrial tv.

It’s definitely getting cancelled imo, I think the clubs and players will make sure of that but I’m really coming around to some of these ridiculous ideas. The more the ridiculous the better as far as I’m concerned.

Get them playing in masks, social distancing, 15 mins each way in a mini little tournament with unlimited subs on the other side of the world, all on the same day. The more farcical the better and if our club allow themselves to be part of that then it’s there own stupid fault.

Sky pay an absolute fortune for tv rights and other than through subscribers to Sky, the only money they have coming in is for the expensive advertisements they have.
No way would Sky (or BT) wanna lose the tv rights/offer to give them away free to terristrial tv for the rest of the season, (and I don't blame them.) This from someone who doesn't have Sky.

I think the BBC/You Tube/whoever will be able to screen the non Sky/BT ones. Ones that wouldnt have been live anyrate, if that makes sense.
