Tottenham's 550 non-playing staff will take a 20% pay cut during the coronavirus pandemic, the club announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The club will also use the Government's furlough scheme in an attempt to "protect jobs".

Isn't the 20% pay cut because they have put them on furlough? Or they expecting them to work for 80% too, in which case if everyone is getting 80% for doing nothing why would you?

Dont think you can work if you are furloughed.

Its basically them saving all the wages for these staff and letting the government pay for 80% instead.

Nothing wrong with it but absolutely not what the scheme is for. The idea premier league clubs have the nerve to claim off the scheme is a bit rich.

What a disgraceful club.
What a scumbag move by the club, cut the wage of the average earners while there's a squad full of players picking up thousands a week individually, poor form that spurs

Levy is not the club. Levy is a business man first and foremost. Personally i agree that this is a poor poor decision by Levy (who was paid £7mn in the 2018/2019 deason). I will be extremely surprised if Levy was the only Chairman to do something of this nature.

I think all the clubs in the premier League are currentlly having discussions with the powers that be about players salaries.

That disgusting. Hope Everton dont take this route. The option is players should take a wage cut and that would cover the wages for non playing staff

There are rumblings about Kane wanting out. Excellent, I love watching Spurs implode.
I think that this is just mischief making in the press by the usual bunch of jackanapes. Get moving to the likes of the rs or united and don't you dare stay with the club your with!

Player salaries should be up for discussion, not normal working class people’s salaries.

You’re one of the richest clubs in world football. You can afford to keep these people on. Losing 20% of your salary is huge.

We turn over a lot less than you and we are keeping our staff on full pay.

But how will Harry Kane survive ONLY making £160k/week instead of £200k??

Im not disagreeing.

His argument would be we have £700mn worth of debt to service.

I also think people should wait & see where the dust settles before making judgement. Although social media is not really known for its patience.
