Wasn’t this fella saying yesterday that void was off the table?

Indeed he was but now there are premier league chairmen admitting that, as people are dying, football really isn’t all that important

One good point made was, if these footballers go on holiday and get stuck due to a ban, Will the premier league go and rescue them with a plane? If so, they’d look tone deaf to what’s happening rn

They will give the reds the title either way. Special dispensation will be made.

Tbh I'd rather just come back in August and start fresh regardless. It wont be a real title anyway
It wont be back in August though I think..
Letting people into packed stadiums and to travel all over the world to do so.
Can it be done while their are still some cases and no vaccine?

The behind closed doors thing is utter idiocy. I could write a book on it. Just some of the main point.

Firstly football games will be gatherings of hundreds of people (players, subs, physics, doctors, ambulances, runners, lighting engineers, cameramen, producers, directors, reporters, anchors, former pro's, directors, shareholders, coaches etc). A gathering of that many people, at a time when we are trying really hard to convince people having a BBQ, or nipping to the beach with your mates is the exact sort of confused messaging we really have to avoid.

Secondly, and what a lot aren't grasping, is there is absolutely no evidence to suggest the last round of footballers catching Corona Virus was in any way linked to supporters. If your argument is to protect the integrity and health of the players (which face it, for the advocates it is, they couldn't care less of the fans) then you are simply not keeping them safe by having them play each other. They will catch and spread the virus again, and with 2-3 weeks it will have to be abandoned again.

There seems to be a real stupidity in this country to what medical experts say, often with the most inanely stupid being the least willing to listen. They are not joking when they say, people shouldn't be congregating together. It's not safe to go to the park and have a kick about.

The PL news to stop looking for short cuts and loopholes around this situation and start getting with the program. The Olympics has been banned in July. This season is done. The focus has to be about next season and trying to get that on. Anything other than that as an approach will risk lives.

They are bending over backwards for the likes of Liverpool and the other money clubs not to mentioon promotion and relegation issues the FL are worried about litigation in stead of taking the clubs on and telling them where to get off.

It’s quite a simple decision to be made at some point, either football can carry on and there’s enough time to finish the season safely in which case crack on, or it can’t in which case it has to be cancelled. All of this ‘it’s not fair on some teams’ just needs to be put away, it’s completely irrelevant at a time like this.

It wasn’t fair that our two title winning teams got broken up because of the wars, it wasn’t fair that we got banned from Europe when we were once again the best team in the country and that team broke up, it wasn’t fair that we got shafted out of the CL when coming 4th just because they changed the rules for Liverpool to get back in. It wasn’t fair that Spurs missed out because Chelsea won it. It wasn’t fair that us, Villa, Spurs missed out on several years of champions league football because Liverpool and then City broke financial rules with one nearly going into administration and the other now facing a European ban.

When there’s a pandemic, similar to when there was a war, all of that ‘it’s not fair’ nonsense has to go out of the window. It can either be finished, or it can’t. That’s it.

See the post that even behind closed gates there could still be upto or more than hundred people in the ground.

So it creeps ever closer ,I found out this morning that a couple of our best friends both have it and another close friend knows MANY that live within 10 kms of our house .
They are all skiers and holidayed in Austria .
It is strange for us as we live in the forest and don't see anyone anyway but all the things my wife is forcing on me now seem to be important beyond belief- whilst writing this my wife came off the phone to tell me a guy I worked for who was a good friend has died with it .
He was in his mid seventies ,I know of no underlying problems but he probably had some at his age.

What does fairness even mean in this matter? Genuinely, I just don't see why that should come in to the equation.

But theyve done so well. But they've waited so long. But they are so far ahead.

So? So? So?

The bad luck they may end up having here is just that. Unforseen, act of god, bad luck. Is it bizarre? Is it strange that it has happened in a season when they are so far clear and other teams have faultered? Absolutely.

But there has to be a cut off. You can't bend over backwards just because they have a 25 point lead, then potentially cancel a future season because a team has a smaller lead. It hasn't been mathematically determined, so everything else is moot.

I also hear the scare mongering about Sky or other TV deals calling in the TV money or saying the league has defaulted on the deal. 1st, the league has had its hand forced by unforseen, unavoidable circumstances as outlined above. 2nd, they got the revenue for all of the games that have already happened. And the prize money will not be awarded, so I think that balances itself out.

For every team that is gonna have bad luck by the season ending early, there will be another that will see it as good luck. Its practically 50/50 at this point, so let's not get into how much it affects maybe 2 teams. It affects everyone.

Besides, I'm still not convinced that the phenomenal season they have had is all above board anyway, so it could just be a healthy dose of karma.

Regarding the paying of players wages, surely the same rules apply to them as they do to everyone else. So the government will cover 80% up to the sum of £2500 per month.
