Potential cancellation of games - Coronavirus

-Euro 2020 to be cancelled by early next week, CL and Europa league abandoned
-Immediate suspension of all sport, including the PL
-at least a months break
-Assuming football ever starts again, my guess would be no matter when they will finish the season and accommodate relegation and promotions, could turn into a 48 game year next year for example, from July to May

If they do go down the route of voiding it, never mind Liverpool, where do almost promoted teams turn (WBA for example)? There are surely too many law suits etc

what are they suing? the Corona Virus?

No club will launch a law suit
 

The only problem with a suspension and playing catch up with fixtures is that we have no idea how long this will go on for.

Its ok saying we will play in June, there are 9 games left. You would have to fit 9 games (Plus CL/EL fixtures for some as you could guarantee UEFA wont miss out) a FA cup final, a CL/EL final - Championship playoffs and a final. UEFA would be fighting eith the leagues to prioritise fixtures.

Then after that the new season fixture list needs sorting, which takes planning but can only be done when you know all the teams, the summer transfers etc.

All this before the 2nd week in August when the new season starts? The players wouldnt get a break anywhere.

Its not feasible. They are only going to get a small window to re start before it has to be void
 

The plan in Italy atm is to restart Serie A in mid-April if possible, but most likely May.

That obviously depends on the outcome of the virus lockdown over there.

And, if it was a May restart, then that'd only happen if the Euros were postponed.

I read somewhere that the peak for this virus will be about June.

They could put season back to September maybe?

Its a massive assumption at this point, to base anything on the 2nd August having to be the start of next season.

That makes 29 of 27 a chara.

I might be a bit out with 7, but community transmission is stil very low, I haven’t gone through the days but I believe it’s still under 15- 20.

Today it’s:

22 local - either heath care professionals who have had contact with a patient with the virus or contacts of someone who has the virus and traced.

2 community transmissions - source unknown.

3 associated with travel in an affected area.

The Euros is gonna get cancelled, think it’s pretty safe to say that

But even then, if the projections hold for over here and the worst of the disease comes in 12 weeks time, that’s still too close to the space they’d have in order to finish up
