You honestly believe the players don't care if they draw or win?

And how can they influence the video ref, they make the decision to review it and they're 200 miles away.

Nothing to do with 200miles away. The referee on the pitch is the one we should press. He has the authority to decides if he wants a look at the video. Our players could press him to have a look just like how manu players press for an offside decision.

But the VAR takes the decision out of his hands the second they decide to review it. The ref on the field didn't refer it, he gave the goal. But as soon as the VAR decides to review it, it's in their hands.

I don't know what to say other than I'm truly exasperated over the lack of rub of the green we've been getting this season. I thought the Brighton episode couldn't be bettered but today's beat it by a country mile.
I honestly don't know what the answer is. Much as I would like to believe it, I don't subscribe to the conspiracy that the top six are getting all the close calls. I think it's down to sheer incompetence by the referees both on the pitch and at the VAR headquarters.
Ultimately, who was it that decided that whole play incidents would be scrutinised?
I always thought it was to be limited to goal line technology.
At any rate the whole saga has polluted the game and the stench is unbearable.

Should it really take player pressure to influence an outcome and if so, what does that say about the state of officiating?

Strikes me that the whole VAR fiasco is designed to deflect blame from the ref on the pitch and defer to a faceless authority who is beyond scrutiny. It’s the way things are going in this country and a bloke called Orwell called it way back when.

As i said in the match thread, i don't think its whether De Gea can see the ball when DCL plays it, but if he can see the ball at any point in time between him playing it and the ball going in.

When DCL plays it is only important when determining if Sig is in an offside position, which he was. The offence only then comes when he becomes "interferes" by preventing an opponent from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing the opponent's line of vision.

I don't think he prevents De Gea from being able to play the ball even if he cannot see it for a split second because he is clearly moving away from the ball and doesn't have enough time to get back across.
