Good performance on the whole.

Defending not great but then we knew that already. Two goals from set pieces is another massive difference than under Silva before him.

Gomes quality when he came on. You could see exactly what he brings to the team and the quality level compared to who we had already. Those passes were top class.

Lewen again proving to me why I don't think he is the level of striker we need , certainly as first choice. Not knocking all of his misses but he needs to be putting another away with those chances, it was the difference between points and a defeat , which is what the striker is there for.

All in all , very positive despite the result . You can see how swapping even just 3 players in the pitch for better ones is going to transform us.

He could have done better with one header marked unlike are defender who let Arsenal score unmarked.....
Ageing full backs don't help Sidibe was shown up to day as being poor v a fast young players....
also our midfield untill Gomes and Bernard came on was so slow....compared to Arsenal's they were too fast for us at times....
The goal after half time killed it for us they played with width to our narrow ageing set up.......

Thing is Bernard goes forward with the ball and you could see that when he came on, changed the game in the sense he was trying to be creative, which he was.

We probably will beat United, just like we did last season when it doesn’t matter and we have nothing to play for.

This problem goes back years - everytime we have an opportunity to make a leap we bottle it.

Wigan semi final, Liverpool semi final, Man City semi final, reading in the cup, countless games against the top 6 in the league. The only game that mattered in recent years that we actually turned up for was the 3v0 win v arsenal in Martinez first season...and we still went on to mess it up against palace.

Just so bloody frustrating.

It does matter though this league is terrible this result doesn’t mean we’re out of the race

There's nothing to take from this defeat against a pretty raw Arsenal team who were knackered for the 2nd half.

No. That just didn't happen.

Almost all of the creativity was a result of Richarlison making runs and Gomes finding him. Bernard was limited to bad decisions and one half decent cross that DCL headed wide.
