ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

So, if I’ve got the maths right, I feel a bit better about the whole situation and I don’t think a guard of honour is actually likely for the derby.

The permutations are as follows (based on Liverpool winning their next 4 games pre-Derby vs Norwich, West Ham, Watford and B’mouth)

If City get 8 points from West Ham (H), Leicester (a), Man Utd (a) and Burnley (h) then Liverpool can win the league with a win in the derby. BUT, no guard of honour before kick off.

If City get MORE than 8 points from those games, then it’s not possible for Liverpool to have wrapped the league up either at or before the derby. So 3 wins and we’re sound.

If City get LESS than 8 points from those games, then they’ll be champions before kick off at Goodison and a guard of honour will be a talking point.

Essentially, for the nightmare scenario to take place, they’d still need City to drop points in TWO of those 4 games. Obviously you’d look at the away games vs United and Leicester as tricky ones for them.

As inconsistent as City have been, and even with their eyes clearly on the CL games with Madrid, I can’t see them dropping points in two of those games.

possibly no guard of honour before you wallop is at Goodison.

There are no rules about a guard of honour, it's supposedly more of a tradition, so we wouldn't have to do it if we didn't want to and I would expect/hope us not to do it considering the trouble it would cause at the game.
I think chelsea did it for united and the other way round. Barcelona did it for real Madrid aswell.

Leave it up to the fans I say. Line the players up on the centre circle and call for a moment of appreciation from the fans.

Then let the faithful decide how best to communicate their (total lack of) respect and love.

Could you seriously see us doing it? There would be no respect all round, it would kick - off big style.
Kick off how, it's over in 30 seconds and then the game starts, it's more embarrassment then anything. Barca Madrid is much bigger and nothing happened there.

I don't think you have a choice, buy it's unlikely it will happen anyhow
