Well then what's the excuse for Duncan Ferguson doing better than Silva? 1 win against Chelsea who were fourth at time after Liverpool smashed us and a draw against United/Arsenal with a invisible midfield? Brands can only supply the ammunition he can't fire the gun, When you look at the squad in BFS last game compared to now the squad is so so so much better, Yes it still needs improvements but we're slowly getting there. The only thing that contributed to Silva's downfall was himself and the way he played, Two other managers have done far far better with the same players so not sure how we can put some blame on Silva.
New manager bounce

Things have normalized a bit now with losses to the RS and City and draws against Newcastle and West Ham.

Squad went into the season weak in a number of areas:

1. central defence
2. No experienced striker
3. Poor right hand side
4.gutless spineless midfield

Brands has a job to plug these gaps regardless of the manager. The pursuit and lack of a timely and decent Zouma alternative is on him.

not impressed at all so far

Not only did he fail to get a player in for the first team, he even failed in the tasks he himself set - to get shut of Martina, Niasse and Bolasie.

The feller is a useless nobhead.

The last 3 windows have underlined that.

Bypassed on manager selections and disastrous in the transfer market. He's just a hologram. An empty Hugo Boss suit.

do you ever come off transmit you absolutely tedious meff?

He can’t get rid of them if nobody wants them! What part of that concept does the rats maze inside your addled skull not get this?

How can there not be any doubt over whether they have improved us?

I have some doubt over that.

The metric I'm using to judge the squad quality is our league position.

Year before Brands 8th.

Brands first season 8th. No significant improvement.

Brands second season is also looking like we will not finish higher than 8th.

On that basis, he hasn't really improved the squad relative to our competition in the two years he will have been here.

You cant judge Brands under Marco Silva, thats just silly, the man was so out of his depth he wears an anchor not shoes.

The excuses stop here. 4 transfer windows and he's failed to make a dent on the waste of players sucking up huge wages.

Only way some of them go is if EFC subsidise their wages. At which point, it could actually be better having them here and available for selection.

Dave for the love of all that is holy, will you read what people are saying to you, Oumar Niasse turned down two loan moves to top 6 sides in the Championship, moves that would benefit the player by getting him game time to put him in better stead when his contract expires here in June, not a single club showed any interest in Martina until briefly yesterday by another Championship side that wasn’t followed up on. That is not on Brands, it’s on Martinez and Walsh for giving two players, who frankly didn’t deserve it, big contracts. The only way to get shut now is to terminate their contracts but that will still cost the club as much to buy them out as it would having them picking splinters out

The players he brought in have massively improved the squad, if we cant agree on that point, I see no reason to take this discussion further.
Agree to disagree on "massively improved".

Going off of the league position to judge the squads progress (what other valid metrics are there?) then there hasn't been any actual progress yet.

Assigning all the blame for the league position to the manager isn't fair because the same doesn't get applied to Koeman.

You consider staying the same shows no improvement, which is only valid if no other team in the league improves either.
