We need to avoid signing any more over-the-hill types as a first step. Can is 26. Is he too similar to Gbamin tho? “No obvious weaknesses”, but a bit of a danger on the cards of late..

This we are getting lucky with what the teams around us are doing. Subscribe to no silly Jan moves for the sack of it but a run at 5/6 place is on the cards which may require some ins to achieve.

Agreed. Even if we wernt in the running , we should always be building. Signing in jan gives players 6 months to settle and hopefully able to get off to a good start next season. We should be building all the time as there are so many wholes in the squad and so many changes that are needed if we are to ever compete. If we need say 8 new players to get us to cl level which it’s probably more like 10 and people say you can’t do it in one window ( which is fair). If you decide never to use the jan window That means if you are looking at 3-4 seasons signing 2-3 players and that’s assuming they all work out. We should be adding whenver and wherever we can constantly whenver a suitable player is available. The “prices are higher in jan” argument may have substance but waiting until summer hasn’t worked out “cheaper” for us either. Nearly all our crap tuson, Walcott and Morgan aside ., we’re signed in the summer including sandro . If the season is a “write off “ or if you are unsure if the manager is the right man then I understand waiting and not wasting another mangers money. Carlo is the best manager we will ever attract or at least the highest profile and the biggest honours list so we know he’s not going anywhere, so that means we should be building every single window imo

@Glasshalffull I promise you this guy is the real deal don't worry.
Don't dispute it. Just think that God might struggle to make much of an improvement for a long while from where we are and what we've got. On the other hand, maybe a new player here, one back from injury there, and perhaps Carlo can work a God-like miracle - who knows? That's where all the fun, hope, and misery come from.

....with another point added to our total yesterday, there’s not a great deal of transfer gossip to report for this Sunday 19th January;

- Lots of outlets pick up on a report from Gazetta Dello Sport that Everton are keen on Juventus midfielder, Emre Can. The 26 year old has a £42m release clause and earns £4.26m per year. The Mail reckon Everton are prepared to match that salary and bid £30m for the German international, whilst Sports Mediaset suggest he will move to AC Milan this month after making just 8 appearances for Juventus.

- According to Leeds Live, Leeds United have turned down an offer to take striker Oumar Niasse from Everton. Football Insider claim Nottingham Forest had agreed a loan deal with the Toffees for the 29 year old but the Senegalese international rejected the move.

- 19 year old Everton defender, Lewis Gibson, faces an uncertain future at Everton. The youngster is out of contract in the summer and Liverpool Echo reporter, Phil Kilbride says he wants assurances about 1st team playing time but the Toffees prefer to bring in a new centre-back than promote Gibson.

- The saga linking Everton with Inter Milan outcast, Matias Vecino continues. The Mail reports Everton are lining up a raid for the 28 year old midfielder whilst Corriero Dello Sport suggest the Uruguayan prefers a move to Spurs.
Hope the Can rumours are crap. Hes bang average and not what we need

He not slow mate, people are just saying he's slow because we only sign slow center midfielders.

And all ones on here who keep going "he's slow" probably shout "slow" at everything they deem not quick enough for their quick,frenetic life.
What the... Emre Can certainly isn't fast or rapid,.

Hoping the links to both him and Vecino are jarg.

Can is better than any of our fit central midfielders would take him certainly on loan until the rest of the season.

Not too fussed on Vecino though- go out and get a proper goal scoring winger in.
