If there is someone you don't agree with or because he supports Liverpool the person is classed as a snide...Thats an immature response and you know it..I have loads of Kopite mates who are sound and respect Everton..
The article made some good points , I believe we have to get rid of some of the dead wood and freshen the side up a bit..Arteta has become half the player he was maybe because he is on a fat wage packet and his job is safe..
Cashing in on Rodwell now for 20 odd million make sense if we can get 3 or 4 players out of that , he is not even getting a game anyway..
IMO the players to put up for sale would be...Arteta , Heitinga , Neville , Yakubu , Rodwell...Would get the wage bill down for starters and bring in some needed funds to freshen up the squad..
Ive said on another thread that we could do without Rodwell and sell him for a good fee to help us fund our own improvements, with the money fetched in for him we could atleast get 2 or 3 good signings for that. In the article the bloke makes a good point about Rodwell - 'though cashing in on Jack Rodwell may not be such a bad idea, given that his value outweighs his current usefulness', and IMO he's right.
We could sacrifice one player in Rodwell for a good fee from anything from 20 to 25 million so that we could sign a couple of wingers and a striker of the quality that we need and still keep the main core of our team, the likes of Jags, Baines, Felli, Arteta and Cahill, i wouldnt sell Arteta like you have suggested as he's only out of form, he'll find his feet again but the others i'd be willing to let go for the right price.
At the end of the day were as skint as fcuk and if we dont sell to buy and stick with what weve got right now then we'll stay where we are, struggling to make it into the top 10 or be worse off!.
And who's to say that if we do try and keep what weve got and dont go out and buy and be ambitious in the market, cos we wont Trust me unless we take the option of selling an asset, that certain players like Jags, Baines, Felli, Arteta and even Rodwell will want to jump ship anyway and go and better themselves at other clubs who are ambitious and do challenge for top honours?!.
If we stick with the current squad knowing full well we have no money and dont sell to buy to help us improve our squad sufficently then we will fall even further behind the pack next season cos as were standing still and not improving, every other premier league team will do without a doubt!.
This season we have found it hard to create enough chances or score enough goals to win matches and if we dont look to improve in certain areas of the team to try and change that around then we will have another sheit season and cos were so skint, why not sell just the one player like Rodwell who as a big valuation on his head and who isnt a regular, to help fund our own team improvements?!.
To me it makes sense to sell one player who's worth a decent fee and doesnt look like becoming a first team regular anytime soon, so that we can re-inforce the squad with 2 or 3 quality players instead of selling 2 or 3 first teamers, possibly the core of our squad and buy for other areas aswell as what we already need without even thinking of selling them in the first place, that might set us back even further as these players have to settle in and take over from the original 1st teamers.
Selling one squad player to be able to boost the team with 2, maybe 3 quality players would be far less unsettling for the team than getting rid of 2 or 3 main players all in one go and having to replace them and expect the new players to just fit right in and do better, it's easier to add 2 or 3 to what you've got rather than rip out the core of your team and replace the lot in one full swoop.
If Moyes at the end of the season said he was going to let Rodwell go for a big fee and that he'd been promised all the money for team strengthening in the summer then id be all for it, thats all im saying.
