January Transfer Thread 2020

Got to be in the loan market for both a CB and CM at the very least
I'd like us to avoid loans if we can. We've had a few work like Lukaku and Gomes. Others like Lennon (and Gomes could end up here too) have caused unnecessary spending on players we didn't owe anything to. And Zouma and Deulofeu were both cases of us beginning to rely on a player just as he leaves. Let's try and cut all that uncertainty out and just sign the guys. Good players preferably.

Full backs dont grow on trees.

United paid 50m for that Wan Bissaka and hes beyond bad. I like Sidney and for 13m we can look past his sketchy defensive work.

City won the Title with Fabian Delph at left back, if you get the rest of the team right, its fine.

Is that the saying of attack is the best form of defense? If they score 5 we will score 6? ;)

....despite Carlo Ancelotti saying he’ll only sit down with the Board next week to discuss transfer plans, there’s already been plenty of links and we’re only on day 3 of the January window. Here’s this Friday morning’s Toffee transfer rumours;

- Lots of outlets pick up on Sport Mediaset reports that Everton are plotting a £21m move for Juventus midfielder, Adrien Rabiot. The out of favour 24 year old has struggled for game time following his move from PSG and could leave after just 6 months.

- According to Foot Mercato, Everton have made contact with Fulham over midfielder Jean Michael Seri, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray. The Ivory Coast International was Fulham’s £25m record buy in the summer of 2018 but was forced to leave following the clubs relegation. Ancelotti was apparently keen on the 28 year old when he managed Napoli.

- The Mail suggest Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea are all interested in Everton’s 22 year old full back, Jonjoe Kenny, who is currently on loan at Schalke.

- The Mailonline report Everton have had a £500k bid rejected for Carlisle defender, Jarrad Branthwaite. Carlisle are holding out for more with other Premier League clubs interested. The Express suggest Carlisle would accept £750k for the 17 year old Centre back, whilst Sky Sports reckon Everton are closing in on completing a deal.

- The Mail also link Everton with 22 year old Swansea centre back, Joe Rodin. The 22 year old Welsh international has made 13 appearances in the Championship this season.

- Mundo Deportivo continue to say Everton are one of a number of suitors interested in Barcelona Centre Back, Jean-Clair Todibo. The 20 year old Frenchman has played just 3 games this season and Barcelona prefer a loan without a purchase option to a club where the youngster will play regularly.

- The Courier link Dundee United’s 2 prolific 24 year old striker, Lawrence Shankland, with a move to Everton or Norwich. The Scottish international has scored 21 goals in 22 games in the Scottish Championship.

Wan Bissaka is class...very hard to get past him. I dont think any of our players have ever done so...

Rabiot bid is supposedly between £21.1 and £25.4mil.

Emre Can available for £8.4mil

Imagine that as our centre midfield for circa £30mil in fees.

Don’t for one minute believe that Carlo hasn’t given a list of names to brands to recruit. This ‘wait till after Liverpool game’ is rubbish.

...I think from the outset Ancelotti and Brands have been talking on a very regular basis about the positions that need strengthening and the ‘type’ of players required. Both will then suggest and agree individuals and Brands will then commence enquiries.

i recall Walsh saying the Manager and DoF both have to agree a transfer but I’m not sure if that process applies now. I think common sense means that Brands won’t sign a player Ancelotti doesn’t want.

Glad to hear this said - fans fixating on Bernards lack of goals don't seem to see how much better we play with him on the wing - simply because he can work with the ball in crowded areas. Davies, bless him, is almost the opposite, he struggles to work with the ball under pressure.

Pienaar was great at this too.
Davies would struggle to work with the ball with a square mile of space.
